Well... where do I start...
I signed up for the novice school on March 12th :)

Unfortunately, I am not bringing the car I intend to auto cross, so it will have to be my daily driver (Honda Accord Wagon)...

My story...

I was born with a visual impairment... and until age 38, or a year and a half ago, I lived my life as a legally blind person who could not see well enough to drive... High school was tough, not having my own car and some fun times riding around in my friends 87 Mustang GT 5 speed... anyway, off to college, then career here in Tampa Bay... I use to ride a moped, cuz you didn't need a license... I've been all over Florida on one of those... then they changed the laws and I was not allowed to even ride that... :( So I experimented with electric bikes and stuff... I came up with a trike hybrid tirke that got 130 miles per gallon!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJDNWcnYlFo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well, about 2 years ago, I went to the eye doctor... hadn't been in about 5 years.. he said my vision had improved to where I could now drive... wow... Something I've always wanted and couldn't have, now just dropped in my lap... I got my learner's permit 3 days before my 38th birthday and my full license November 2009...

I've always loved cars, I started building my project cars years ago, I never knew that I would someday be able to get a driver's license...

Here is some info on my Project car...

So I will be at the novice meeting with my daily driver and in the future, bring my project car :)

Great story, Rafael!

You'll learn plenty in your daily driver. In fact, if you're not used to driving the other car, you'll probably get MORE out of driving your daily driver.

We'll be emailing some information out to the students as the event draws nearer.

Done.

Also "promoted" some workers to instructors and we're still short instructors.

Right now, we have 20 students and 8 instructors. I'd really like to have no more than 8 students per group, and no less than 3 instructors per group. We can do it with 2, but as anyone who's done it will tell you, it wears the instructors out plus they don't get to spend as much time debriefing their students.

Soooo... Unless we can dig up another 4 instructors, I'm considering changing the registration cap from 32 to 24. We have enough people to support 24.

tl;dr: We still need volunteers. Another 4 instructors and 2 workers would be ideal.

ps: Who is "islandmon"?

Ah, LuvOfJah is more of a Sublimoe reference, not so much beard, dreads and Jah :)

Yes, as for driving, I've only been driving a year and a half, and I'm much improved and confident... so I would love to learn with my daily driver and then apply to my other car...

Looking forward to this event and hopefully many more..

You can put me down too, as of now my work schedule is clear on the weekend of the 12th.

I wouldn't have a problem with that. As long as he understands that it's EXACTLY the same course and doesn't think he'll get bored with it.
Okay, I finally got my step-son registered. I'll be tagging along, so put me down as a worker (I've done timing a few times). I'd like to race the following day, put haven't seen registration open for that day yet.

Reg for March isn't open yet. (and will be half-full with workers and students from the school!)

Working the school is mostly chasing cones, no timing involved except for a few runs at the beginning and end. If you're up for that, I'll need a name to put on the list.

Thanks!

If you're working, and you're planning to enter the following day, you'll become part of that half-full list, too....

I hate chasing cones, but I'll do it. The name is Joe.

Cool, thanks! I think Jamie already snuck you onto the list. The good news is that we try to rotate the workers with the student groups, so you won't be stuck working exactly the same place all day, and you'll get a break every time your students are in class.

Okay, I think we have a full slate of workers and instructors now. I wouldn't mind having an extra name on both lists, however. There's inevitably someone who has to cancel at the last minute for some reason or another. So, if you want to volunteer, it's still not too late.

Only 10 student slots left!

I'd be happy to help out anyway I can, however I can't do the chasing cones. Keep me in mind if you need me otherwise.

Also, when will registration open (for the rest of us) for the autocross on the following Sunday?
