Okay, we now have 6 green and 6 yellow balls on strings prepared to make you all crazy this Saturday.

Bill, is everything else in order? Do I need to be doing anything else?

Not sure. Still coming back up to speed after a week of roaring around in the Smokey Mountains on roads such as the Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, US441 from Cherokee to Gatlinburg, etc. :D

I need to go over the checklist and see if we are on track before I answer.

I might not be available for the Friday night setup. I've got a nasty scheduling conflict for this weekend. If I'd remembered I would NOT have stepped up to chair this event. I'm still trying to figure out how to juggle my requirement to be in two places at the same time.

Okay, let's just skip Friday night.

Anybody wanna step up and bail Bill out? Most of the major stuff is done. Course design and all that. Mainly just need to be sure lunch gets handled and workers get wrangled. That and supplies.

At the time I volunteered I wasn't aware that this was also the weekend of Necronomicon, the SF convention in Tampa.

Last year my son and I filmed (videoed?) the con and I was expected to produce a mini documentary to be shown at this years con ... which is 3 weeks earlier than last year!

So now I'm in a crunch. (Yeah, I should have done it long ago but I had trouble finding enough disk space to hold an additional 15 hours of uncompressed video footage ... on top of all the footage I already have from other projects.)

There are still a number of worker positions unfilled for this event (see the first post in this thread please). We need volunteers!

Also, I need to know how many people to arrange lunch for so I know how many waitresses to hire.

Well, crap. My Miata spewed all of its coolant this morning. I think (hope) it was that stupid useless coolant plug on the back of the head. If so, it will be (relatively) easy to fix. If it wasn't that, it would almost have to be a head gasket. No coolant in the oil, though.

Gotta find time to play with it...

All 4 of my exhaust hangers were destroyed today when I went out to drive home for lunch. Two of them were ripped, the other 2 were cleanly severed. The muffler section was sitting on the ground, still attached to the end of the downpipe. I put my stock (rubber) hangers back on for now, but it still sucks. They're wobbly.

Looks like its a bad day to be a racer ;)

Nah, definitely spewing from the back of the passenger's side of the engine. The rubber cap (plugs a coolant pipe that was used on the 323GTX, but not on the Miata) in question would spew in this general direction, so I'm pretty sure that's where the problem is.

Well, reg. is at 59. Normally we'd have about 20% no-show, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that what with this being a special event and requiring pre-reg, that there'll only be 10% no show. So, figure 54 plus spectators...I'd say buy lunch for 70 mouths. In pizzas from Papa Johns, that's 23 pies...if you aren't doing pizza, well, yer on yer own! (but if there's a question, a little extra is better than running out).

At the risk of sounding like I'm nominating people, Jamie has usually assumed worker assignments (and done a damn fine job of it). Kenny has masterminded timing (and done a damn fine job of it). I can help with setup until registration starts. After I finish registration, I can play Course Marshal if no one else wants to...

by the way, what time do you want the gate key there Sat. morning?

Probably about right. Drivers and listed guests total 90 right now.

Not this time. I'll bring some printouts with the cars and drivers divided into classes, and the normal registration and tech lists, but someone else gets to work out the run groups, assign workers, and keep an eye on the weather for this one.

Nah, I don't blame him for wanting an event off from that task.

I think Bill's going to handle it, but if not, I will.

Bill? What's the word?

I agree, just close to the event to find someone to handle it :)

Look at it as an opportunity to excel. It's not rocket science. I'm trying to do two events this weekend, and this one, being further from home and under greater threat of rain, is the expendable one if I have to choose. While I've found it's possible to be an absentee event chairman, it's somewhat harder to work the run groups and worker assignments remotely.

Well, the trial schedule eased up a bit. I'll do safety unless someone else has dibs.

Bill isn't feeling too well, having got only 2.5 hours sleep last night (not all at once). This is Bob, Bill's submerged alternate personality speaking for him. When Bill finally pulls himself together I'll let him speak for himself again.

If Bill isn't capable of handling it, I think that between Loren and I we can cope.

Steve, thanks for the lunch numbers. Now all Bill has to do is decide what to feed all y'all.

Bill, if you can handle lunch and getting the trailer there, I'll try to handle the rest.

Steve, let's open the gate at 7am. (gawd, I hate 7am!)

Jamie, can you email me the current entry list?

Oh, and my Miata is fixed. 8)
