Torque lugnuts to 90-100ft/lbs depending on lug size and remove ALL loose crap from car.

Increase tire pressures to 40psi and drive around before to get a feel for the quicker steering.

Fill gas tank so it doesn't slosh around (if you can afford it).

Do not go to late nite club before the event.

Try to find a car similar to yours to take an experienced ride(s) with before you drive. RWD, FWD or AWD makes a big difference.

Look for the quiet guy at the late session with the red G8 GT - not ideal for autocross, but I'm planning on taking it all in, starting slow, learning and improving.
Bonus nostalgia for the old "JC" stomping grounds.

So, I've been reading up on all the typical questions. Here's one for all you vets: What do you wish you'd known before your first event?
Yeah, you'll have a good time.
Come early, there's another G8 in the morning session - maybe you can beg a ride from him to see what to expect...

Two early slots just opened up if anyone wants them.

If you need to move from Late to Early, Cancel your Late entry and register Early with your event credit.

Oh, and there are 8 slots left in the Late session.

I am new to the area but not to auto-x and open track events. I just moved to the area from Southern California, back in November of last year. Having run Run to the Coast event (Pro-touring.com) in 2010 and 2011, my chevelle has had some hard workouts on the cone course. This is my first event with the Drivefast.org people, I hope to put on a good show, meet some new friends, and just have a blast. I just signed up for the late session.

Q-ship: Welcome to the other coast. Great shot of the Cheve...I mean Malibu. :-)

We had another fellow with a 71, I believe, compete...it was a similar build. Maybe he will chime in...

68 Malibu, one of my favorite Chevy's. Looking forward to meeting you and watching you run.

We still need some kind soul to do this. It will make this course a little easier to follow.

I tired to make it down this past weekend, but just never could make it that far south. It's just out of my range to be able to do it for a lunch run. If no one else can make it down, I'll do my best to make the haul at lunch on friday.

Thanks, Rob!

I think we're just about ready to have an autocross. There are still a handful of entries open in the afternoon. Registration closes Wednesday night.

My Miata's fuel feed system just took a dump and I'm sure that I will not be able to diiagnose and fix it by Saturday so someone can use my early slot if it's alright with the event chairman.

Well that stinks Gene.
Registration is still open, so feel free to to go MyAutoEvents and cancel your entry. That will get you an event credit and open the spot up for someone else to grab up.

Hope you can make it next time!

Love the License Plate.

Lucky for me that Florida does not take the plates like Cali would have done. Best part was the plate was the idea of my best friend an LAPD officer. The CHP loved it too, used to get a siren woop quite a few times.
