Many years ago I bartended part time at a comedy club that rarely sold out. One weekend the manager put "special event, limited seating" for the exact same show they had the week before and we sold out by Thursday. :?

Back on Topic:

We still need volenteers for the following:

Timing and Trailer Set Up (Kenny?)

Safety/Course Marshall

Lunch

Anyone that can help out here would be great, Dec 16 is going to be here before we know it. I should have a course map by this weekend.

Thanks, Brian

I'll do safety.

Have we got any "safety trainees" who need another round of training?

I can help where needed, but I'd prefer shagging cones again this event. It'd been a while since I was out on course & I'd forgotten how much fun it can be!

What you do with cones in private is your affair...during the event, will assign you to a busy station to keep you out of trouble. :)

anytime I show up, you can usually count on me to collect cones in the back of the truck at the end of the day

Thanks for stepping up guys!!

I'm assuming that Kenny will do timing with impalanut?

Loren I should have a course map to you by Monday at the latest.

Steve said he would do registration by himself being that everyone is pre-paid, so that's covered.

It looks like we just need someone for Lunch. Anyone?

2nd call for a safety trainee...

Preferably someone who's had a first round of safety training, so we can take it a little further. But, if no one fits that bill, I'll take a newb. (someone with at least 6 months autox experience)

We can't let ourselves get into a situation where we're relying too heavily on one small group of people to do specialized tasks. (that goes for timing, too... when was the last time someone was trained on how to set that stuff up?)

Yep, I'll be there.

As to Loren's comment, I discussed that with Victor at the last event. I've got some vacation time coming up, so I'm hoping that I can get a small "Here's how to do basic stuff with the timer" document written up, at least for next year.

A checklist of some kind is a good aid to setting up and troubleshooting problems, but we need to be sure that some people have hands-on experience, too.

It's great that folks like Kenny and Howard are willing to set up the equipment, all I'm saying is that at least every now and then, you should snag somebody and say "hey, wanna learn how to set up the timer?" and walk them through it... and follow through with showing them how to pack it up properly at the end of the day. And, if at all possible, get THEM to set the stuff up at the next event with you just standing back to answer questions.

We're not hurting for "experience" in the club right now, but we need to be sure we keep it that way.

Well, I don't meet the "preferable" criteria, but I do fit the not-too-new newb...(say that five times fast!)

I don't anticipate getting there before 8am, so if that works, I'm willing and able to learn the ropes.

Thanks Kenny.

I'd wouldn't mind learning either safety or timing at the next event. I think Drew did timing once or twice, so he maybe able to help in the future.

Eager is good. You'll do. :)

Much of the safety work is done before the event. Send me an email with a little background on your motorsports experience and I'll get you started on learning the safety criteria and a bunch of other stuff. (as a pleasant side-effect, you'll learn a lot about course design and reading courses, which should make you a better driver)

Thanks!

I just canceled my entry if anybody is looking to get in before registration closes. I found out last night that I'll be out of town that weekend. Doesn't matter, really. Since Jeremy is showing up, he basically won the class for the year anyways.

I guess I need to find somebody to take the timing equipment.

The list is gone to the airport...no more adds. If you didn't register on MAE, PM me directly, or send an e-mail to wedrivefaster@yahoo.com, you probably didn't make it...do one of the latter two if you're seeking confirmation.

The course is drawn up and has been giving to Loren for review.

Kenny you have a PM. We will probably need someone to help with Howard with timing, so anyone out there willing and able would be great.

Other than that, it looks like we have all the bases covered, except Lunch, I can do this but would rather stay on site if possible. So anyone that's willing to go on a pizza run would be greatly apreciated.

Does anyone know if we need gas for the genny? And do we have plenty of paper plates, napkins, paper towels, trash bags and chaulk?

How are we doing on batteries for the radios? I don't think we've replaced them in a while, so lets make sure we have plenty of back ups.

I'm going to be away from the computer most of the weekend but will try to check in now and then.
