Yeah, I concur. I've been looking over weather data for the past half hour. It appears that Ruskin is under a river flood warning, the rest of the area is under a vague flood watch with 2-4" of rain possible. But, they're not talking "epic flood potential" or "hurricane"... so, it's just another variation of Florida weather. Another day in paradise.

I fully expect that a few people won't come out tomorrow. But, a lot of people will, and we'll have a good time playing in the rain.

Use your best judgement on whether you should leave your house (depending on where you live), and definitely stay off of the surface streets in and around Tampa if you can avoid it. Apply common sense if you come across a water-covered roadway. Don't put yourself at risk just to try to get to an autocross!

But, based on the current weather forecast for Pinellas County, I don't feel the need to cancel the event.

I already have plan B printed out for run/work groups (two groups rather than three) in the event there are more than 2-3 no-shows tomorrow. We'll muddle through the puddles.

It's not the rain(I've autoXed for ten years) it's the ability to get to the event safely. Is there any flexibility in the no refund policy for certain weather conditions( ie maybe can't leave the neighborhood safely).

I'm planning on attending, but I also live clear on the other side of Tampa.

What time are we starting?

Schedule is here:
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frm ... t_id=14732
(and I have to check it myself, I never can remember what time things happen)

Refund policy is here:
http://drivefast.org/event-info/refundcancel-policy/

We "flexed" the policy a few months ago. No refunds, but no-shows get a partial event credit of $20. That's the best we can do.

I don't think we're going to have a problem tomorrow, just checked out the Florida moisture forecast. We will probably have some early morning light showers here and there, and will clear up by noon. Shouldn't be a problem because it's a classic and registration will be under the shelter. With a average count of 20 or so "classic drivers" showing up, if its raining hard in the morning, set up can be delayed a hour or so, and we all can pitch in and set it up later in the morning, then tear it down in the afternoon.

We've seen the worst of the rain pass through -- looking at the satellite and radar, we may see some light rainshowers through mid-morning, but I'll be surprised if we don't see sunlight by lunch. Tampa was putting out flood warnings earlier today, but when I drove through South Tampa during the mid-afternoon downpour, it wasn't flooding as badly as I expected (read: didn't worry whether the Miata would float or not), and by the time I left around 7, things had drained off pretty well. The ground's saturated temporarily, but I expect that'll only be an issue for people near or having to cross a river or good-sized creek -- everywhere else should soak up the water overnight (an advantage of the limestone swiss cheese we live atop).

Not sure what you're worried about ?

I would say by 7am tomorrow morning the rain won't be more a issue than any other normal rain we have had lately. It should be pretty light and start to clear towards noon, and there's no big storm front coming our way.

Yes, heavy rain with lightning and flooding forecast for St Pete thru noon today.

I will wait an hour or 2 before I call it a day, but looking at current radar I don't think the cones or chalk will stay in place until after noon.

Got half way to st Pete and turned around. Lightning and heavy rain thru noon(ish). If the event started at 2 we would be good me thinks.
