Here is the best one yet. Has electric brakes and nice wheels and electric inside. As long as its tall enough (looks like it) anyone should be able to tow this and if they have the right connector it has brakes :)

That one looks really nice. You would probably be able to pick it up for a little under 2000 with the way people negotiate off craigs list.

When I first started looking at this thread, I had assumed a few people here had tow rigs. Since thats not the case you may be shooting yourselves in the foot if you do in fact end up with something that is brake-less. I had a nissan xterra before I bought my suburban for towing, and even towing my quads up to croom would put some effort on the brakes. it was most profound pulling my little bay boat, at a scant 2800lbs. If you guys are going to tow this thing on long distances, thinking about some tranny coolers while you are getting the controllers put in your vehicles. my parents when I was younger tried to pull an enclosed 6x10 (custom enclosed... EG: Plywood) up to North Carolina. Needless to say we stopped about 5 times for repairs to the van (tow was a ford aerostar) and once we hit NC the thing had crapped out so much that we had to have a flat bed come and tow the van AND the trailer the rest of the way.

The search for a new trailer is over, thanks to Charles! :D

Let's close this topic.

Look soon for a new topic to organize a work party to rework the trailer to our needs: adding windows, organizing storage and moving everything from the old trailer to the new.

Hurray! You guys rock!

That sounds great. And don't forget appraising and selling our old trailer!

I know I have a few business trips (which will be weekend trips) this month and next, but I'll help if I'm in town.

I actually was going to take pics but I figured I'd steal the pics from the craigslist posting when I got home.

Dude removed the listing before I had a chance :-(

Ban away........ if you are going to Howard's check it out for yourself :P

I was just about to ask that myself. The club is quite grateful to Charles, Bill and Howard for the research, shopping and purchase of the trailer. Is one or more of y'all willing to spearhead coordinating the work that needs to be done, or does the club need a new volunteer-trailer-fixer-upper-coordinator?

I think we need to put large windowl like we have now in the sides and a fixed plexiglass window in the front so we can see out all sides. The back doors are too narrow for windows, but can just be left open. We should also wire for a few circuits of 110v to allow for all our equipment and some storage areas. We should think about an outside box on the tongue for more storage. We should probalby also consider a roof vent or two since there won't be an A/C in this one. Once all that is done a paintjob would be a good idea also. We should be able to do all the work at the current location.

We'd probably want to install some type of desk/work area under one side window, at least, too.

Since there's been no posts here other than the excellent suggestions Impalanut offered, I'm gonna assume no one has stepped up to be the "spearhead" I requested.

We've had this trailer now for 6 weeks, and the clock is running on the Flowers' availability to tow our current behemoth.

If someone already did step up, please tell me just so I know. If not:

It's time. Someone please volunteer. You don't need to do the work yourself, but only need to collect and coordinate a capable group of folks who can and will.

Post here, or pm/email me.

Thanks.

I think Howard at least needs to coordinate the work effort, since its at his house and all. And he probably has a sawz-all.

+1, Let's start by finding out when Howard is available, otherwise we will all show up at 3am on a random day.

Sorry. I was going to kickstart something but once again our life took some twists and turns that kept my attention elsewhere.

Good news: we came up with the money to buy the B&B in Canada and the startup capital for repairs and upgrades and enough of a cushion to run it for more than a year even if we get no paying guests! The deal closes April 1.

Bad news: May will be the last time we can pull the trailer until the Fall.

I own a sawzall and I have a very good idea of how to frame out some windows for the trailer. However, I won't be available to help until April, after the closing on the B&B. If work is done earlier I can describe my idea on how to build windows for it quite easily. It will require access to a table saw.
