Dave - welcome back. Glad to hear you'll be around a bit more!

Joe - you are SO fortunate to not have to worry about me, cuz yes, once the SC is on (and actually safely runs), it'll bump me a class. And the rest is fine, I'm used to the brutal competition in M2. I ain't skeert. I also ain't sure just when I'm gonna make time to get the thermostat housing fixed, much less do the mods...I may be car-whoring for a while. But that'll save M3 AND M2 some hurtin'... heh.

Steve, you should stay in S1 where you will have a chance at a 1st place sticker cause you won't be getting one in M3 this season.

Or will you be in M2 with your latest mods? M2 where a Top 10 finish nets you a 3rd place sticker.
Hello.

Hmmmm. I got a 3rd place sticker in M2 with an S2 car and would have placed 2nd that day in S2....DOH.

I got a seasonal 3rd place T Shirt with a 15 year old BS car in S1 against the NOW S0 car winner in only 5 events with 300 tires on stock rims while still learning the car....DOH.

They don't consider it "doping" when you exchange all your cars fluids prior to a race.

I was very close to putting a new professionally installed LS3 into an exploded RX8 until I found out that a C5 costs less, is better balanced and is more reliable. Steve will find out that putting a blower on a Miata is more expensive and less reliable than a bone stock C5, Z51. Chris' old car is still for sale for $14k. Any takers?

It will be way cool to see the final standings for finish times assuming the day stays dry?

Steve has yet to drive a perfectly balanced Miata with unlimited acceleration and torque :d That will be resolved Sept 13th. Imagine a car that requires "restraint" to race..... :rolling:

Maybe next winter we'll all go to a test and tune at Brandenton Dragway?

I need to see if my car is still within spec in the quarter mile:)

No helmet required slower than 14 seconds....oops..... 13.2 is helmet required.

Oh well, I'll make the sacrifice. Right lane was faster two years ago.

You don't think so? Look hard....

I don't know that I've ever seen Elliot take a rider in that car -- he normally takes the minimum number of runs to set FTD, then puts it back on the trailer.
ive ridden with Elliot, and he set his fastest time of the day with me riding shotgun a the last event. You have to have a 34" waist line max hehe.

I was hoping to see you out there but looks like you registered in the late session.

I found it interesting the s2000 was placed in a class with some heavy hitters. I wasn't too concerned until I saw the nice straight in this course. should be fun :D

Pro-tip: The S2000 is a heavy-hitter.

Well, the Nissan is four years older, and the paint is good and appears to be original. You may have something there.

Actually didn't need one. I was the original owner for nine and a half years and never smoked a cigar in it.

The S2000 is a lot like the Miata in that it's a really great handling car from the factory. It's easier to mess the handling up with "improvements" than it is to actually make it better. Perhaps you've fallen victim to that? Or maybe you just need to keep "tuning the driver"? Get a good driver who knows S2000's to take a drive in your car and evaluate your setup and maybe show you what the car is capable of. (I'm not sure I qualify for this one, I've never quite figured out how to drive an S2000)

+1. The only thing that a s2000 really needs is good grippy tires. My friend had one, it was completely stock and got him to Autocross it once, I took it on a instructor run, and I was impressed. In fact that car gave me the idea to eventually get rid of mt FWD and buy a RWD car. 8-)

I've driven a heavily modified s2000 and it was set up all wrong, the rear ended would snap out from under it unless you babied the throttle.

They like a heavier front swaybar. But, otherwise... what Brian said.

Yes you need to drive them very very slowly if other than in a straight line :thumbwink: I am thinking about getting one and painting it green with yellow wheels and wing with pix of a deer on it to fit in at Brooksville like the Farmer's Tractor out there.

Trouble with S2000 is 50HP until 6k rpm then 240HP bang for about 5 seconds until redline...shift....repeat. Worse than a single turbo car. Must drive like fresh egg between foot and accelerator once moving. Too narrow of a power band for my taste. There is a CPU "flash" to help increase on and off of VTEC which would help a lot.

7" factory front rims don't help either. They are very comfortable to sit in grid tho'.
