Don't "need" a 2nd driver, but you are always more than welcome in my S. However the old tires are down to the wear bars, slicker than snot and unlikely to be replaced by then.

I'm assuming that the driver on the east loop would be at the crossover first. The crossover is my only concern. If you have a
slower car on the east loop and a faster car on the west we might have a problem. Even though the guy on the east loop should get there first I assume. If he messes up there is a possibility of a collision. With both drivers focused on the track I'm worried they won't see each other. Especially if this gets opened to the public. As we race we're supposed to look ahead which lessens the risk, but I'm worried that some newer drivers might know that they're supposed to look ahead, but don't. I'm not suggesting we make changes to the course. I just think we need to make sure that at the drivers meeting everyone is fully aware of the crossover and that people realize it's not a game of chicken. If you think it's going to be close at the crossover than back off if your on the east loop since chances are you will probably lose.

All drivers attending this event should be experienced drivers, so newer drivers really shouldn't be involved. Also, drivers of similar "past results" for lack of a better term will run together, so you won't have a class champion driving against someone who placed 30th last year in that class.

Since I'll be running a completely different type of car I'll probably be against competition that's way too fast, so I'll be the slow guy, but that's fine :)

It will be covered, watched, and handled. We appreciate your concern, and it is warranted, but it will all be taken care of. We'll likely have a dedicated worker who's job it is to monitor that situation and be ready to flag the faster driver to back off if necessary before proceeding to the East loop.

Got anyone to race in your class yet Scott?? =) You might have to bring back the 3 or the Solstice for this event.

Hey, Jack

I just noticed that the Battle X falls on daylight savings time, we all get an extra hour of sleep before the event, but the sun will be setting a bit before 6pm, so hopefully it won't go to late.

Nah, it won't run late. That's why we limited entries, to ensure that it wouldn't. We should be done before 5pm.

Loren, I do want to verify that there is no need to bring the timing laptop or equipment with me, correct?

No need whatsoever.

The only timing that might happen will be between two competitors who are co-driving the same car if/when they are required to go head-to-head. Then we'll use stopwatches.

Any hope for the non-invited people yet? =)

The deadline for registration is officially TOMORROW, but I'm going to extend that to Monday. Register this weekend, or forever hold your peace!

So far, only 32 have registered... a figure which really surprises me. This event is usually a LOT more popular than that. Are you guys afraid of a little competition, or what?

Requests are being accepted for non-members who would like to be invited to compete. Minimum experience of three autocrosses is required.

Good stuff! And plenty of time to find some shiny new wheel lugs!!

haha - yes...don't worry - replaced all the studs on that wheel and got some new lugs for it =) Won't be running the race rubber for this event, though - going to stick with the street tires. Still need to work out some fit issues with the race tires before I'm ready to use them again.

There can be only one!

<----- This guy!

I think ZZ top put it best in the song "Manic Mechanic"

You want to race?
If you insist.
At that price, I can't resist,

Tonight it ain't right,
I got to have me a week.
But I'll be back for you, Jack,
and I'll let the machine speak,

Showdown, you bet.
And I haven't saddled my pony yet.
Have mercy, Miss Percy.
I done put the coon tune on this bet,

Jeff

*note "Coon", Is a nickname for Cajun style, or "super hot" I had no Idea what that meant until I looked it up, coming from a bunch of East Texans it makes sense now.
