In response to Jeremy, usually any number or class changes (although I don't see why there should be any number changes, really) are usually communicated to timing by registration. They still forget to get a car type for walk-ons, though. Makes for gaps in the results.

Dave, if you would like to donate an optical mouse for the laptop please do. And if you happen to have a spare laptop bag...

One more complaint...

A couple of the radios including the one for timing sucked. Apparently when I told them to hold the start they didn't hear me, fortunately it only resulted in a couple reruns and not something more serious.

Not sure what the problem is. I think SCCA uses the same cheap radios and they are all crystal clear. Maybe it's dead batteries or cheap batteries or the radios are just crapped out? If someone could test all the radios that would be awesome.

We're basically phasing out the older radios and replacing them with new ones. I believe Steve bought 4 new radios and as the older ones crap out we'll replace them. Would you be able to pick out which radio was giving you problems? If so, we can remove it from the rotation and replace it.

The main problem is that all the radios seem to work fine when testing them at home, then they have problems at a event. No one really knew that we have the new radios, we need to make an anouncement to let everyone know if a radio is giving them problems to report it ASAP so we can replace it.

I would be happy to donate a laptop bag if needed, nothing fancy but it's in good usable condition. I would also be happy to supply a fresh set of bunny batteries if they are needed to ensure a safe, smooth running event for everyone. Let me know if I can help, Scott

It was owner (I think) and builder. Builder is Dan Rasp's boss so I suspect Dan did some (much?) wrenching on it. Hopefully he can comment on it.

I talked with them a bit. They had a blast and are looking forward to doing it again, hopefully at Brooksville.

Correction - the car was built for a customer, well before my time. That's all Scott! 8) The car was/is set up for going really fast at Sebring, so there is some dialing-in that will continue to take place helping the car do things like turn in well. All together though, it's a killer ride and car + driver are both guaranteed to get faster with each event. . .

Putting this gently it may not have just been the radios. I know a couple of times (including when base was trying to have me hold the start in the first heat) I could hear just the tail end or the transmission, like when the button is not held for a sec first.

Well I was working in the second heat and I had the same problem until I switched out the radio with station 5.

Jamie: well balanced-agreed...only when I have an even amount of people present in the car though! Go solo and you end up crossed up in the corners...see video :shock:

Loren: Style points? - I will take it. Rounding up some 'period' correct autos would be a hoot. Fun to see how they work in a modern day event. I was a bit concerned the little car was going to toss a rod since I don't think it had ever been whipped!

Native: One point is one point... - I will take it! Yes the steering wheel still gets me occasionally. Trying to act cool while getting in the wrong side of the car isn't easy to do!

Yes, 4 new radios, which gave us a total of 9. It's possible the batteries were worn. Possible user error. Possible worn out radio. Possible we needed to change channels (we've only got 22 to pick from).

Was a radio check done before the runs began, for each run group?
If it was ok one time, but not the next, that might narrow it down to user error and/or batteries...

Next time a radio is trouble, change channels, change batteries, whatever. If that doesn't fix it, please put aside the bad radio, or at least mark it somehow. It's now mixed back in the bag with all the others...I guess we'll find it next month!

Since you two asked the most, photos should be up by the end of the week.

Unfortunatly I bought myself 5 4 gig cards (I think I might be missing one though, anyone see one laying around at the event?) and so figure about 1400 photos per memory card, times 4 of them...

I took 3,800+ photos this past weekend. Yes, that is 3,800+ photos. It is not a typo.

I need Adobe to automate itself one night before I go to bed, but I still want to go through and get rid of the crap photos though. There's still one or two in there somewhere.

In other news, I'm $1,300 poorer. Though, I have a really badass camera now. I need to decide what I want to do for the upcoming events that I photograph. As much as I like to just do it, I would kind of like this investment to pay for itself...

BUT Overall good event Kim! I'm still shocked we made it there before the event started! You and Tim did a pretty good job of getting things going and keeping on top of people as far as worker assignments.

Chris Cory... I think your photos are going to be witheld for slacking off and not doing your worker assignment and making the last run group late!

And for the guy with the Impala, I didnt get any pictures, but I did catch some video of you in action. Maybe about 30 seconds worth. That'll be posted one day.

Thanks for all the kind words... and a thank you to my brother for helping (he isn't on the forum to represent himself though). It can't be done without all the help from everyone though... so I appreciate everyone who helps make it happen.

The calling of the next group does help when people listen, because sometimes people just don't realize its about that time when they're socializing and whatnot. So yes, I agree that worked out.

The run group calculations and chosing to do 4 was Jamie's idea, and I think it went well... especially with as many driver's as we had. So kudos to Jamie on that one.

Thanks to Loren once again for the borrowed course design. It made for great listening at the timing trailer. It was nice to be able to hear each car come by and really open up.

The blue car with the blue numbers on the window was co-chair Tim lol... I bought him magnetic numbers, but he accidently forgot them.

Big thanks to everyone who helped set-up and tear-down. I know I mentioned the issues with my last event in sign ups... we had none with it this time... it went smoothly and that was fantastic... thanks to all who helped!

I had several people mention to me that they were pleased at this and my last event that there was enough food to go around. For future chairs at SPC that want to order from that Papa Johns, email me and I'll give you the info... or do what I did and call the closest one and tell them you're with our group. The order is under Kim and I can give you my phone number... all I did this time was place the same order I did before, they gave the same discount and all was painless

Quick note about the karts... I know a couple of people were not thrilled that they got to run the way they did. I'm only go to say one thing about it... I (and others) felt it was the best way to balance the special needs (comfort/safety) of the kart driver's with the continued flow of the group. I was glad to see you out driving it Christina... now... if only John could learn to count

I too tend to brace myself when riding with Derek by putting my hand on the top corner of the windshield... I'll try not too although... I often just try not to ride with him... lol

Kenny... we *do* need you Although it is possible to run without you... it isn't nearly as much fun... and we were all scratching our heads that morning as I walked around asking all of the usual suspects who knew how to set timing up. Lol... it is definitely easier when you are there (though Howard knew what to do )

Sorry for such a long post... I've not been online to get on this sooner. But again, thanks to everyone...

Oh... and for the supplies on the next event... make a note to pick up Paper plates and Marble Dust. Possibly also something to mark the police course cones as was discussed that day.

I want to apologize for going home early, it's not something i've done before. I live in Orlando now and worked the night before until 3am, I was so exhausted during the 3rd run group I went back to my car fell asleep and my girlfriend drove me home. I'll try to contribute something extra at the next event I attend.

Hmm...we looked for your car to see if you were still there...didn't think to look in it. No damage done. Letting someone know before you guys took off would have simplified things: we wouldn't have wasted time trying to track you down...or Kim would have slapped you around until you woke up.
