I see 5 registered, I think that was the minimum. More would have been better, but I think we can meet expenses with 5... barely
Yep, you 5 guys are testin' and tunin'. The income from 5 covered the event site, the insurance, the MAE fees, and, well, that's it. No lunch, no drinks, no ice, no generator gas, etc. - that's where the 6th would've been nice...each chip in 10 or 15 more and you'll be having a nice cookout!
The Novice school was budgeted to lose money. Actually, I think Steve said it made a little money if you look at it by itself. But, remember that every instructor got a free event and volunteer workers got two free events... that's where the money loss comes in. No big deal. We budget for it, and recognize that it has HUGE value to the club.
Yeah, if you look at just the actual dollars that came in and were spent, we were in the black a tiny bit. But as Loren pointed out, there were more expenses in order to staff the school. FAST isn't in it for the money, although we do try to keep our heads above water. We really appreciate the support we get from folks - financially, by volunteering time at and between events, and by just having fun with us.

Could you guys make sure I get added to the access list? I told Howard I might be able to come up and run timing for everybody, but I'm not so sure. You guys put it on the last build weekend for robotics so I'll have to see how things are going by then. I'd just like to be covered just in case.

I am planning to get to Brooksville around 8:30 and hope everyone will arrive by 9:00 so we don't need to leave anyone at the gate. We will have to sign the waiver, I have it. We should probably coordinate lunch. If it's going to be barbecue we should sign up to bring stuff. Should take about half hour to set up. Kenny, are you planning to use the new display for testing? If so I will bring it. Can we set it up so that we can give times in segments? We should plan to take a lunch break. We should have enough shade and fridges so we shouldn't need ice.

Mary and I are bringing a grill. We will bring plenty of burgers, dogs and buns. Anybody that wants a burger or dog is welcome. Bring anything else you want like chips etc.
Also should have a memory tire pyrometer (if it gets here on time) and a G-meter for use.

I'll bring some BBQ extras.
I have Mapquest directions, but it's my first time there, so is the right gate easy to find? I'll be there before 9:00 a.m.!

If you take US-41 North past County Line Road, take your first left after the RR tracks. That's the gate.

Howard, I looked in to it, and the timer can do segment times, but only with a special (optional, of course) firmware... that we don't have.

Someone really on the ball manning the timer could do it manually. You'd have to write the time down each time the finish beam is crossed and prese "reset finish" before the next time the beam is crossed. As long as the segments are at least 20 seconds or so apart, it could be done.
Then you'd have to either do some math or put the numbers into a spreadsheet to crunch the segment times.

Thank you so much for posting these videos!!!
I had a blast! (yes I know, I should slow down...)
Everybody was very nice, thank you for allowing me to be there.
I'm well aware I'm not going to win anything next week, or at any time in the future. But I achieved my objective, I know how my car reacts when pushed... When I start my first run next week, I'll not feel completely helpless. I'll still feel helpless, just not completely...
See you there!

Hey, Scott, looks like your new camera takes GREAT quality video, but it's in High-Def widescreen, and you're squashing it to normal 4:3 resolution.
Was a great day of testing and tuning!

yea... I guess I'm going to have to read the manual. (something I generally try to avoid)
