I've not driven on bias ply Hoosiers, but I remember them being the hot ticket prior to the Hoosier radials.
205/60-14's might rub a bit on a Miata. They're not "too" wide, but they're out there, and they're really tall. You'll also take a 4% gearing hit. You're making a momentum car into a REAL momentum car!

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

Daisies offer a lot of clearance..Loren wrote:I've not driven on bias ply Hoosiers, but I remember them being the hot ticket prior to the Hoosier radials.

They are actually Non-Metric.. I estimated at that size since if I said the real size " 24.0/7.0x14" (designed for a spec 6" rim) most of this list would look at me sideways. I have 12 tires on daisies for the car now 4 are 185/65-14 (on the car) and 8 are 185-60-14 (stock size) but 4 of them are snow tires and will not last a day in this heat. I actually ran a backward search of my old Hoosier part numbers. and they USED to make a 215-60-14 that had these exact dimensions. 9" section width on 6" rim.. that will drop with the wheel size change. so assume we are going up 1.5" in section width.. I measured clearance between current tire and spring (1.4") and wheel well under full compression (1.3") .75 on each side of section width will still leave 1/2" of clearance all around..
185/65-14, is 23.5 OD. and I'm going to 24.0 OD.. (like 2% change) should be fine.. I am just waiting to commit. the daisies are 5.5" wide. so close enough.
