That's what he's afraid of! So far, things generally FEEL scary enough long before they ever actually GET scary. I think that will keep us in check for a while.
The lack of power steering is also a factor. If we had PS, we could yank the car around and try to make it do stupid things. Without that, I think it would take considerable muscle to give this car the "one-two punch" that it would take to get it up on two wheels.
That's my story, anyway.

Actually, it's the lack of need for brakes. Or maybe just lack of brakes. Anyhow, since there's little temptation to stand the car on its nose while diving into a turn, there's somewhat less danger of somersaulting it.

None of this is helping.
Scary
One two punch.
Somersaulting.
Lack of brakes.
Uh-uh. Nope.

Walk away. Buy a nice, used sedan. Or maybe a minivan. Drive it carefully, and obey all traffic laws. These modified race cars will just get you into trouble.
Did that help?

Soroya are you lining up a bunch of co=drivers yet? A spanking is in order.Loren wrote:Bwaaaaahahaha! If we were in trash talk mode, I'd agree emphatically. The setup of the FASTiva is a marvel of race car engineering that warrants your respect and admiration, and our competitors should be afraid... very afraid. But, the reality is that the car is just thrown together for the most part, and tweaked to sort of work "well enough", and course workers should be afraid... very afraid.

Rear springs (actually, a full coilover kit, but just using the rear setup) have arrived. They are a lovely blue.
Star Specs are on order from Tire Rack. Knowing them, they'll be here tomorrow.
I'm headed out to the garage to cut some metal!

Left rear fender is free! If I can accomplish the same on the right tomorrow, we'll be on schedule to tack those fenders back in place a little further out on Friday.

Just leave it as shown in the picture - less weight and infinite room for wider tires. If you get bored with 205s slap on a set of 315s - good to go

On the other hand - small hatchbacks with box flares FTW
And yes - I remember these in their heyday freezing my "parts" off in a cold Welsh forest - you could always tell when the 6R4s were coming with the roar of the naturally aspirated V6 compared to all the other turbo group B cars.
Good times

This is getting exciting! Phillip and I got the other rear fender hacked off this morning. Trimmed rear spring perches and installed the new rear springs. The new sheet metal arrived yesterday, and the new TIRES arrived today!
This is seriously going down.

Fantastic! Can't wait to see the end result.
Do you think the widebody Festy will make it's debut at the dog track?
I will definitely bring the camera.

It will be there... either with stylish (hah!) fender flares, or really, really ugly gaping holes where fenders should be. But, it will be there.
