FAST Open Autocross - Sep 23 - Brooksville

Postby Loren » Sun Sep 16, 2018 8:37 pm

I was just looking through the entries, checking for duplicate car numbers and classing errors. If this event is any indication, this is going to be an AWESOME season all-around!

There's one car in R1. Not gonna shed a tear about that, FAST has never been a "race tire" kinda club.

M0 has some competitors - Mike Dassatti, Rowen Suarez, Dave Williams, and new guy Erik Hill from Lakeland in a fire-breathing Eagle Talon.

M1 is as wild as ever with 12 competitors - two new guys, and a bunch of strong talent in fast cars.

M2 is just insane! 16 competitors - forced induction and/or big torque as far as the eye can see. And fast guys everywhere!

M3 is a little less populated - But, still, 7 seasoned competitors... some of them aiming to take out some Miatas!

M4 is solid - it's never been a big class, so having 5 regulars plus a new guy is great! Who can do the most with 205's?

S0 has sprouted this year - lots of Corvettes. 3 Meucci's driving one Audi TT. And one new guy in a Mustang GT350. There's a ridiculous amount of speed in this class!

S1 has a good mix of fast sports cars - The S2000's are often the cars to beat, but if David Marcus decides to make a full season of FAST... y'all will have your hands full.

S2 is now the FRS/BRZ/WRX class, apparently - Not a lot of them (I guess all the FRS/BRZ went modified? And it seems some of them think that their cars can't be fast without a 100+ db exhaust.) , but 5 regular competitors is good clean fun.

S3 is its usual small self - I'll never understand why the "muscle car class" is so small. These guys need to bring some friends!

S4 is gonna be a hoot! - 10 Miatas... and Ben Wheaton in a Fiesta ST trying to demonstrate that Miata is not always the answer.

S5 has some good competition! - Man, I love S5! Good mix of legit econoboxes... two of them electric!

Yep, we're in for a good time! First event of the new season, a full event lots of well-populated classes, and 15 first-timers! You guys know I say this all the time, but really... Really, REALLY... if you want to run when you want to run (or even be sure that you'll be able to run at all!), you better get registered very early for each event. Get on the Event Reminders list if you're not already.

But you cannot run above your class? Unless you are running an M2 car now? S4 placing in M2 would be interesting tho'. Go Philip.

You can't run in a class your car is not eligible for. If you have an ES car, it's eligible for S4 or M3... and eligible to bump to M2. We're not gonna verify that you've done "enough" mods to be in Modified, and if you want to claim that you deserve a class bump up to a legitimate class, we're not gonna argue that, either.

But, you can't run an S4 car in M1. There's no logical path there. Are you with me?

And, you can't run an S4 car in S3, or S2, or S1, etc. The car has to be eligible for the class.

2pts for him. Sucks. Should run FN with competition in PAX at least. No chance for any T shirt at that rate. When does Bob come back from Illinois with the Cobra?

The "good" ones are in AS or M since I sold turd AOD Shamu and other great drivers have moved to M. Kind of like the H Class/S5 dominated by a little turbo car soon to be built in China if at all? If I find a cheap Cosworth or Acura we'll see once again? I'm thinking about some S5 turd car for next season to beat up M. I owned three Fieros too:) Turd cars can win against turdz.

I could run S4 ( obvious ), M4 ( no LSD and I'm on 205 ), M3, M2 ( taking a voluntary pump ), or M0 if I pulled out the passenger seat. M2 to looks like fun, My A game won't cut it. I'll need to find a new level above that and I can't wait to try and find it.

Yes, all of the above, Philip. Anybody can run M0 as long as it's a street car on street tires and meets the safety rules.

But, I guess if you're trying to up your game for higher level competition... competing in M2 with its intense and consistent competition in a woefully underprepared car would be a means to that end.

Only if there was some sort of "PAX" class that could group people up together that don't run the same classed cars....

Philip needs to be a "modification" to the car... like one that would bump him right into M1, or M0... you know, add forced induction, engine swaps or a Philip and bump up... :-D

No, what we need is a "Philip" class all on its own. Philip is required to stay in that class and anyone can enter the class with whatever car they have to challenge him if they dare.

That way the rest of us can fight amongst ourselves.
