I've seen the back end of a Triumph Spitfire (not mine) get about 8" of air coming off of a crest in a parking lot I used to autocross on, exciting stuff! Elevation changes bring a whole new dynamic to autocross... and a whole new list of things to worry about with course design. (we can get slightly off-camber turns at SPC, but they're just annoying, not unsafe!)

Florida's flat, so our autocross sites just mirror local conditions. I used to autocross out at San Francisco's Candlestick Park back in the days when fuel injection was for them exotic furrin' cars and Corvettes (and when it was really called Candlestick Park...). The parking lot there had plenty of long, parallel yumps due to the way the pavement settled (built on landfill over mudflats) -- OK when the course ran parallel to them, but at some point it had to turn! And the lots at FedEx Field (Redskins Stadium) outside of D.C. are really 3-D -- picture a large, shallow bowl with the stadium at the bottom and the parking lots surrounding (and rising) on all sides. For small-bore cars, gravity really did play a role in how you drove the course. The lot we normally used also had a couple wavy spots where if the course was laid out right, it created a blind corner as the driving line passed over a crest and fell away. You had to know where you were going and set up your entry without being able to see the exit...very unusual for an autocross course, but great fun!

Just sent it off to be posted. For those inclined to redesign it before driving it, see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=627 and pick one without a name next to it.

Man that sucks!!! Those tires were brand new!!

I think the craziest thing I have ever seen puncture a tire is when I was a kid and worked at my dad's mechanic shop an old lady came in with and ENGINE VALVE stuck in her tire!!!

Yikes. Almost as crazy: I once picked up a spark plug in my motorcycle tire. The guy at the shop wouldn't believe me that it happened on the road. (I'm not sure what circumstance would benefit me from lying about how the tire was destroyed.)

I switched my homepage to myautoevents so that I would remember to check for openings everyday. And check I have .... several times per day. I'm going to quit looking now, since I made other plans for the 24th. It sucks big time. After watercross, Chris and I are in a dogfight in the championship points in G class. But if I miss this event, it's all but over. I was very focused on getting my 1st place T-shirt, darn it!

Here's hoping Chris misses an event in the next couple of months!

The entry list now shows a cancellation-60 drivers.

Maybe there is some room for Rosko?

Two cancellations tonight. I've adjusted the roster on MAE to free up both -- go directly to MAE and register rather than e-mailing me, since I won't see anything until tomorrow night. In order to free up both slots to drivers, we cannot accept any additional guests.

Go get 'em....

Registered.. so..

now before the event I need to:
-Get new tires mounted, or get the one with a nail patched (not plugged).
-Replace timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner and spring.
-Change oil, filter, install oil pressure and oil temp sending units

Fun times.. or maybe if I don't get that completed I'll just steal Steve's car for my runs, with this Integra I'll technically be running against him anyways :)
