Chat it up here.
Event Chairs are Dave Oneil and Ron Rice. Most of the setup will be carryover from the school the day before.
IMPORTANT:
Registration for this event is just like for a regular event, pre-registration is required, ya gotta register if you're going to be there! Students who paid for the Sunday event with their school registration will be automatically entered (manually, by yours truly) for March 18. Students who only paid for the school ($75) will NOT be registered for this event. School workers and instructors MUST REGISTER for this event, but are welcome to use the event credit earned from working the school to pay for it.
Today is Feb 20 and there are already over 35 drivers signed up. Don't delay,
register here, do it today! (I am the Loren, I speak for the cones.)

FYI:
Not counting students, there are 18 drivers registered. 12 of those 18 have requested special work assignments (timing, grid, start, tech, etc). Needless to say, not everyone will get those assignments! They can't even go to the first people who request them. Why? Two reasons: 1) we need qualified people in many of those positions, and 2) we have have a handful of people with physical limitations who have to work some of those positions.
I'm not saying you shouldn't request those assignments, I just want everyone to understand that they are in high demand and about 3/4 of all entrants must work the course! So, it's more likely that you won't get your requested assignment. For things like timing, we do try to regularly cycle new people in to work with an experienced person to learn the job, so its not always 100% the same people working those jobs all the time, but still... we're probably only going to put maybe 2 inexperienced people in there at any one event. (vs. the dozen or so people who request it)
We're also getting away from a lot of "low-impact" pre-event positions taking the place of a during-event work assignment because we've started coming up short workers to run the event due to all of the "legitimately missing" workers. So, if you volunteer for "tech" or "supplies" or something like that, we might put you on the short list to be cut loose if we happen to have a surplus of workers during your work heat, but if we need you to fill a position... you'll have to work. I know most people are okay with this and happy to fill in wherever they're needed. Just wanted to be clear about a slight shift in the way we've been handling things.
Key positions like Event Chairman and Safety will be kept out of the regular worker rotation because they are expected to work all day, anyway. Pretty much everyone else is expected to take a work assignment... probably working course.

*** More importantly, I will begin the trash talking. ***
Doug Adams, will you be using your daily driver? And by that, I mean this:

^^ Old man, be prepared to take a beating!
Joe Vance, your victory at The Duel was POINTLESS! No, really. Nobody cares. Pointless. I let you win... *cough*
Joe Baker, you must be the only owner of a 2006
Losing Blue. Interesting color choice! Looks great in rear-view mirrors!
Loren, uh... YEA!
Chris Meier, you umm... Well... I'd beat you in this:

^^ You're lucky it won't pass tech inspection!
... Love,
- Gerry
For those who don't know me, I'm not serious in the slightest bit!

Gerry, if you could drive half as well as you trash-talk, you could probably beat my little 1.6 Miata.
"Losing Blue" that's classic!

If I beat your gay car, it'd either be a hate crime or a porno, neither of which I'd like to endorse. "Push harder and suck less." Ew.

Trying to trash talk a Miata by calling it gay is weaksauce. Way too obvious...are you getting tired, Gerry?

HAHAHA That's me when I lived up North. But we did that naked for a 12 pack on thin ice. We used to actually do a race in the snow when the cabin fever set in
I notice it was a 70mph drifter
HeeHaw.

3 weeks until the event, and it's full! @#$%!
Chris, where was my reminder PM?
Oh well. I'll keep checking for drop-outs.

Sorry, I reminded Drew and he barely snuck in. I will admit that I totally forgot about you. I want to beat Drew fare and square, so I wasn't even looking for you on the list. I need to beat Drew 4 out of the last 5 races to win the season. It will be tough, but I think I can do it.

Registration is full at 70! If you are a volunteer worker or instructor from the School on Saturday and didn't get registered, PM me and I'll see what I can do.

The event page on MAE says No Passengers at this event. Is this correct?

No, that's an error. That note is probably left over from the Duel event.
The usual passenger rules apply. If you are a passenger or are carrying a passenger, one of you must be experienced enough to qualify as an "instructor". No novices riding with novices. And only one passenger per vehicle.

As we all know, pre-registration has been filling up really quickly. We're talking about maybe doing some sort of "priority registration" for members, so that our regulars get in before we open the floodgates.
But, let's not talk about it in this event thread.
Discuss Here.

So do I understand correctly that since I apparently didnt get registered before the cap filled there is no more room to run in t he event on Sunday? I was really looking forward to it. It been since last summer since I made a race.
