For my first event this last sunday at SPC I ran in the M2 class, but I'm not sure if this is correct and I would like to make sure I am correct going forward. My car is a 2006 VW GTi, 2.0Turbo w/ GIAC ECU Flash, H&R Sport springs, and AEM Cold air intake. My tires are Sumitomo HTRZ 3's.

Intake doesn't matter to us.

The tune (adding fuel) and springs (not stock) are what bump you from "Stock" to "Mod".

As long as the tires are 140 treadwear or better, they're fine in either Stock or Mod.

You haven't ADDED a turbo or done an engine swap, so you're not going to bump up a class from whatever Mod class you're assigned to. Just look your car up on the Modified class list on our website. I don't have time to do it right now. If it happens to not be there, let me know and I'll try to figure it out.

It is not on the list. The previous generation, the Mk4 GTi is there. But that's a completely different chassis, engine, and quite a bit less power than the current Mk5 and Mk6 chassis.

Okay, just checked and the car was recently classed by SCCA into D Street Prepared, which places it squarely in our M3 class. So, there ya go. As with the SRT4, you'll have gobs of power compared to a lot of the cars in that class, but with a bit of a weight and suspension penalty. But, it's all in how you DRIVE it!

Hmm I remember when I went in November, my friend in his black mk5 ran in m3, he had springs, but with revo tune

The Revo tune is similar to the GIAC. GIAC focuses a lot more on torque where revo is more of an HP gain. about a 10-15% difference at each one, give or take.

And that's at the flywheel. On a chassis dyno you'll barely be over 100. All of the Corvette and Mustang guys in the shop will think you're so cute to be there to see your hundred hp. BTDT.
