Competitive and cheap? Or just cheap?

If I cant make it competitive then I don't want it. It would be just for autocross

Look for something that can compete in S4 or S5 and keep it stock eligible.

Cheapest way to go.

One of those won the autocross portion of the $2012 Challenge. Must be the pinnacle of cheap car autocrossing.

If you can talk Les into co-driving 10 events this would by far be the smartest $1000 you ever spent!!!! His car is awesome (or at least he makes it look so!!!) Check out this quote from another topic:

It might not have an Italian nameplate on the back, but I bet its every bit if not more fun on an autocross course than a stock Modena or a Gallardo and $100 will get you a co-drive in my car at any FAST event.

At first I thought you meant you drove it into a lake....now I get it.

I did look at an old CRX last year in Tampa for $1200 that had issues but ran. So they are out there.

Jeremy has hit on something else. "Cheap" can be greatly offset by how much WORK you're willing to put into it.

How easy to do you want this project to be? How FAST do you expect it to be? I still thinking S4-S5 is the cheapest/easiest way to be competitive... but, being a Mustang guy, you might want more torque than you'll get there.

Here's a guy that tried to turn a Bugatti Veyron into a boat. It was unsuccessful.

I'm surprised. I thought you were too much of a power junkie to take the plunge on a Miata. Welcome to the bright side! (you've already experienced the dark side)

I think I already saw you sign up on the local Miata forum. Be sure to ask questions BEFORE you start making mistakes. :) There's nothing you can do, no problem you can have, no nothing on a Miata that someone hasn't experienced before.

Looks like a fine example of a beater Miata. Throw some tires on it and go kick some S4 butt!

Any drivable car you can buy for the price of the "hardtop" is marvelous.

These things have been dropping like flies the last month. Lots of parts might come your way?

It might not sound angry, but it's a Miata and you're a good driver. The "Angry" part comes every time you whoop up on somebody with a "faster" car! :thumbwink:

Jeremy doesn't want to co-drive with you.
