So, it was stupid hot. The course was awesomely fun, but apparently not extremely novice-friendly, as way too many people were getting lost on it in the morning. That caused us to run only one car at a time, which limited us to 4 runs and made us run a little late. But, at least they were four long (for SPC) runs! And did I mention that the course was awesome?

Steve hooked us up with a tasty lunch, and at least as of the time I left sometime after 3pm, there was no rain.

Thanks to all who helped make this event a success. It really does take a BUNCH of people all doing their part, no matter how small, to make an event like this happen.

Is it too soon to ask where the results are?

I'll repeat it was stupid hot, reflects poorly on the intellect of the folks out in the heat doesn't it. I agree the course was awesomely fun, especially for SPC. It reminded me of the TBD course a little bit.

Thanks for a fun morning, what I really want to know is did my morning time hold up thru the afternoon. The only disadvantage I've noticed with a split format is not knowing and more importantly not being inspired by the other people competing in your class. But most of S2 has no class, so maybe I'm not missing much.

Yes sir, fantastic course and event. I WAY over drove it today. 3 straight 44's, clearly I wasn't figuring out were to improve, although I did adjust my line each time. At least I'm consistent. Will post up vids when I get a chance to edit them tonight. Tried a new position for the helmet cam that ended up being way too low. Looks like I can't see over the dash, lol.

Joe, I'm pretty sure your time was good for first place in S2 and I was 0.27 behind you.

I reached into my trusty bag of excuses and came up with my official excuse: Fuel starvation because Ben was trying to run the car on E and it didn't like that. I'd have totally been 3 tenths faster were it not for that.

Backup excuse: I never kicked Ben out of the car... that would have been worth a couple tenths more.

But, the truth is... I'm sandbagging just to get you to put your guard down, Joe.

Well now THAT was different...in a few ways. More on that later, but for now thank you very much to everybody who helped out today, especially you folks who were there all day and/or pulled double duty. Big cleanup crew was great (we need to plan a trailer weekend...). Very much appreciated all!

I got completely lost on my first run wow that was embarrassing, but improved on the final run, after finally getting the course. I guess that time between walking the course and working it, I had a brain fart.

Fun and challenging course though.

Had a blast today! Awesome couse, but damn was it hot! Also learned to not mess with the brake bias too much... I was locking up the inside front on the first runs decided to add a bit of rear bias. That fixed my front locking on course but made for a interesting finish on my last run. Squeezed out a 41.6 and and managed to do a 180 at the finish and not hit anything. Nice day in the blistering heat at SPC. First shakedown run for Ron's new Miata, and we both have a list of stuff to do. As it sits, it's definitely a momentum car. More damping, please!. The Rivals are pretty tasty tires, though. This is going to be lots of fun.

Course...challenging for novices and 'non-novices' alike! Half my runs were off-course...frustrating rookie mistakes. My one good run was a treat-wish we had another 1 or 2 runs...definitely more time left on the table.

4 runs was good...5-6 would have been better. I enjoy the half day format...but wish we could get a bit more track time for the effort. Seems like the AM group has no problem filling up...might I suggest starting 30 minutes, etc earlier? Admittedly that is rather early, but...I leave for Sebring much earlier on those days...

Really enjoyed the variety of cars...and relaxing for lunch in FAST style was a nice change.

I think I took the award for the most cones...at least in the AM group...apologies to the course workers...I have a bit of learning to do with AWD dynamics.

TD in that Porsche was impressive. A convertible, automatic no less-that ain't a true sports car!

And Liz S. has too much energy! She worked the grid over like no one else...

Looking forward to another FAST season.

Agreed, it was hot. It was extremely frustrating to have a car fail right before I got to the event. A quick turn and burn to Sarasota to grab the WRX and we managed to make the best of a what could have been a miserable day.

Loren, I think we have an exception to the newbie rule. My buddy Jimmy took third in S2...in a S4 car. Although he did have 1 DNF on his first run.

Even more embarrassing is that he edged me out in my own car on the last run.

What a great course. I was tempted to sign up for both sessions, glad I did only one. The heat was a beast!!
I figured out by the 2nd run what was slowing me up, The long sweeper before the slalom. The 4th run I nailed that section which allowed me to carry more speed into the final section which I stuffed it. Doh'

Hats off to you course workers, especially those right in front of the timing trailer with no shade..

It was was much needed before I head to silverstone for nissan gt academy next week. I def felt I had a high 41sec in me given one or two more runs. But overall I'm happy for the day. You didn't go through the green gate at the end so you were actually off course. Kudos to you though for stepping up and showing video evidence of your DNF fail.

Fun course. Several areas to trip you up. Areas looked tight that weren't and some areas that looked fast, weren't.
Thankfully, no repairs necessary for me this event.

It was great getting back out there. Looking at my best run of the day (which was dreadfully slow... 46.666) I can see that I really wasn't very aggressive in some sections. I guess this is what happens after taking a year off and showing up in a new ride. I look forward to getting to know the car and enjoying more events. It was good seeing you all again. Thanks for everything you do!

Tim, 4 runs was not due to the split format. We've still been doing 5-6 runs with that. 4 runs came from me overestimating the ability of this group as a whole to read and drive a course without making dreadful and potentially dangerous (due to the other car on course) mistakes. It was very disappointing, but we had no choice but to go from doing a 25-30 second start interval (nearly 50% overlap) to running one car at a time... a 52-60 second interval. Obviously, that cuts our potential runs in half. If we'd have gone to THREE runs, we'd have even stayed on time. But, four is a better number, so we accepted running a little late and went with that.

As for seat time... typical SPC event = 35-second course and 6 runs. 210 seconds on course. This event = 55 second course (on average) and 4 runs. 220 seconds. So, it really wasn't that bad.

Not gonna start any earlier. It's hard enough to get started as early as we do. Works pretty well when we manage to stay on time and have a course that allows a proper start interval. Oh well, can't get 'em all right every time.

Preliminary because I see at least one error. Ben Wheaton is in M1 for some reason. Should be in S2.

Look them over, let us know if there are other errors that need to be fixed before I update the season points list.

I probably ended up with the M1 slot from the doubled numbers with the 350Z. Also Jesse Olsen and Jimmy Hughes didn't come out in the BMW, they were in a Subaru of some sort and I'm not sure if the classing is correct for them.

I had a feeling that was the case after I went back and looked at the footage. They actually have me down for a +1 on that run. Not sure it matters much. I was the only one running M0. I would have been just ahead of you, Drew, with a 4th overall had I not beefed the finish.
