planning a Novice School - Jan. 2008

I've scheduled two days at SPC, Jan 12 and 13, with the intention of doing a Saturday novice school followed by a Sunday regular autocross. It's a little more than two months away, but I'm looking to see who would be interested in co-chairing, instructing, etc. I figure we've got 3-4 weeks before we'd want to start spreading the word and getting registration going.
I still have a lot of the materials from the last school we did, so unless someone wants to do something drastically different, a lot of the prep is already done. There's still a few details to work out, though.
Waddaya'll say?

If I can count on Stealing the Timing Guru himself Ken-a-mania for the January rallycross then sure I'll help at the school.

When is said rallycross? Has a data been set? Please let it
not be the first weekend of January.

I'll help of course. I can try to co-chair, or instruct/tech/etc.
Does telling the students to "drive it like you stole it" qualify as "instruction"?

Depends on the student. Some of them need to be told exactly that. Others need to be told to "slow down to go faster".

When they are at the starting line ask them where are you looking? Then tell them where they should be looking and watch their jaw hit the floor.

"Are you
lookin' at me?
Lookin' back at my original post, let me clarify:
looking to see who would be interested in co-chairing,
what I meant was, who'd like to co-chair the school, with me? Attend one, instruct one, produce one, right?
Ok, so there's me, Dave, Jeff L. (unless he can't have Kenny), anyone else wanna help organize this thing? or help any other way? we'll need instructors, timers, cone-shaggers (who will be somehow better compensated than last time...), etc.

You can get autocross attendance on or around a lot of holidays... but I doubt that you'll get much within a week of Christmas.

A lot of people I know have a lot of free time around that time, as long as it's not on X-mas eve I don't see a problem with attendance. I've gone to Bucs games on X-mas eve and that place was sold out, I'm not comparing the Bucs to FAST, but it shows you that people do and will go out if they're interested.

Point taken. I could very well be wrong. I know it's damned difficult to schedule a Christmas party without conflicting with other events. I guess if you're going to do something like that, it would pay to be VERY early on people's calendars.

The robotics kickoff is the 5th, and we do a brainstorming session all weekend, get the subteams set up, start design, etc. I
must be there since I'm the software team lead. Any other weekend is fine other than that.

Back on topic: I am available as an instructor. Unfortunately, I do not have time to co-chair.

Myself and Kim will be interested in going to the school.
I know I suck, and need to slow down on some of those turns, and will be looking forward to a few tips and pointers

I didn't really think about it, figuring the event chairs would do so. I need at least one co-chair, and you posted earlier you could try to co-chair...are you in with me? If so, we can discuss what cone-shaggers should get (I have a couple of ideas...), and should probably do a little emailing and start figuring out other details. 8)
anyone else wanna co-chair this thing?

I'll instruct for a free event. Instructing is a lot of work also.

I'll be there, either as a helper or a student, however it works out, I should have my Civic suspention and wheel set up done by then, and I'm going to need as much seat time as I can get.
