Great day at Brooksville! 9 super-fun runs and done by 2:30. Couldn't get all the elements to come together on one run, but it didn't make it any less fun. Great company, good food, lots of action-- FAST Classic works for me!

When Loren said "Classic" I really had no idea what he had in mind. The course map didn't even give me a clue what was in store.

This event was a "Classic Classic".

No one could possibly find fault with anything. Even tho' it was chilly in early AM it was shirt sleeves by the 2nd run group.

We, S2, ran first and there was plenty of grip. With that many runs I let other drivers give me their feedback driving my car. Priceless.

This is one of the best autocrosses I've ever attended. And I've been around the block many times. Hey we didn't even have to spend 20 minutes waiting for the novice walk!!

Thanks To all who dreamed this up and made it happen. It was well worth getting up extra early to co-chair this event.

This event couldn't have gone better! And it was everything we intended it to be... Classic FAST.

I'm sure the next one (not in conflict with Gasparilla and some big race at Daytona) will be better attended, so we probably won't get that 9th run in. But, the plan is still to do 8 runs even if we max out with 60 entries. Believe it or not, we can do that and still be done by 3pm. Today, last car finished right at 2:00, and I was hauling the fully packed trailer away at 2:30!

It occurred to me on my drive home that one of the other ways that this event felt like an "old school" or "classic" autocross was that because we got done so early, nearly EVERYONE stuck around and helped clean up, almost EVERYONE was there for awards presentation, and nobody was in a rush to leave. Right up to the end of the day, it was just a very relaxed "no pressure" event.

Of course, our regular Championship events are fun, too. A little more serious competition and more of it, the fun of helping novices learn and improve, and all that. But, the Classic... wow! What a great time!

Couple criticisms.

I would have appreciated a carnivore-friendly, calorie-dense lunch option. Just saying.

Also, we had nearly 4 gallons of gasoline leftover. If the generator is not taxed, we should be running the PA and save the bullhorn for backup.

My fault on both counts. We never opt to not use the PA because we don't have power. It's sheer laziness. And it wouldn't have been much of an issue if our bullhorn wasn't such a piece of crap. Gonna order a new bullhorn for sure. But, will also try to set up the PA most of the time.

As for the gas, we started the day with the generator being about half-full (it holds 3 gallons). It ran out sometime during the second run group and was filled up from the 5 gallons that Doug bought. I should have told him to only buy 2 or 3 gallons, but I forgot. Oh, well. Better to have too much than not enough!

Had my first off course spin into the pasture today. That's usually Doug's trick. Thanks for all those drivers meetings where you guys say, "Two feet in". Those exact words flashed through my mind as I was spinning backwards.

9 runs was great. It was nice to be able to experiment with things.

Everybody pitched in and made it happen. Possibly the quickest and easiest trailer load I've seen. We have our system down and it is working.

Great event! Doug, thanks again for the car swap and ride alongs, it definitely helped me out. Drew I will need to let you get a couple more runs in my car so you can figure it out and show me what it's capable of.

I didn't completely refill the generator when it ran out. Figured the gas would go into the tow vehicle and didn't think we would want fuel in the generator in storage.

Yeah, we normally pour the remaining fuel in the "tow guy" tank, so there's no fuel left sitting in the trailer. Not a big issue since the weather is cool this time of year. I volunteer to take any leftovers in the future.

What a awesome day ! It really was a Classic Fast event, it was really nice to see a more social event where you can talk to everyone throughout the day. Also nice to see everyone at the awards presentation at the end of the day and listen to Ron make his Johnny Carson, Leno, and Conan remarks ! The one comment I loved was when Ron said, " you made your driving look like eye surgery with a machete", lol. That's what really made it feel like a classic.

Was that 44.0 the run that I did? If so, it probably had a 42.xx in it. At least a low 43 since I had the rear trying to pass us in a few spots on that run.

Speaking of fuel. That gas container leaks from both ends. I blame my putting in 4.9 gallons on the fumes from the container. Please buy a new container. If you find a 3 gallon one go for it. Had I actually followed thru with my brain fart thought of grabbing my 1/2 empty 2 gallon lawnmower bottle the generator would have gotten a shot of gas preservative too. OH WELL. Gummy gummy heart.

If it's any consolation after putting 4.9gal in the leaking (fumes made me mental) FAST tank+ 2 gallons of Premium in the Grey 8. When I stopped to put more gas in the Grey8 on way home for a Sunday event the f&**^&^g gas pump refused my card. It thought I was a thief.

So I lost my 5% discount on 6 gallons of gas....grrrrr.

Matt your car is so frickin' fast it comes with an ass kicker. I'm just glad I didn't break it on the tire warmer run when your Copper did that to me on the other side.

Some day when you corral that Steroid Stock turbo you will rule Mod.

Your run they ran as #600 instructor, but it was a low 44 run if I remember correctly.

Thanks Doug, a little better fuel control and suspension will help greatly. One I can do now since I have the parts. The suspension will have to wait unfortunately, unless someone wants to be a donor/sponsor? ;-)
