Classics are the best!
I really appreciate the help from everyone today. Had many folks volunteer to help out, pull double-duty, lots of people on their toes and keeping an eye on things: all wonderful stuff, and helped keep the event running, ahead of schedule really, pretty much all day. Thank you all! We got 8 runs in and finished up about, what, 2:30 or so! Nice.
Doug put together a great lunch which was timed perfectly with the end of the 2nd run group. Way to go, Mayor!
I got a couple nice comments on the course, which I appreciated (especially Joe's

). It turned out to be pretty challenging. Pretty high cone counts, but only a spin or two and best of all everyone stayed on the concrete! The trade-off of speed and a couple tighter elements worked pretty well, me thinks, and probably lead to all the cones...
It took me a while to figure it out, and then I coned-away a class-winning run. Ah well...the sun was in my eyes or something.
Brian - thanks for the codrive!
See y'all at TBD!

"I was there, were you ? If so then you knew it was a great day ! "
It was a fun day, nice cloud cover, very comfortable temps were more than welcome. Loved the course, had a hard time finding the "right line" to put it all together. Though my co-driver found the elusive tenth we were looking for, but I hear it wasn't to be.
Great job by everyone, really, you all did a great job keeping everything ahead of schedule.
Of course gotta give a thumbs up to our best lunch caterer, that was a mighty fine tasty lunch !
Results ?

I have to say that this event was run very, very well. You guys made it very enjoyable. Lunch was great too!
The course today was really tough for me but that's how you learn. I never really got the last section down and just felt uber slow there all day. My first two runs were my best until my last, but everything in between was just sooo painful (especially that huge slide coming out of the hairpin into the slalom). All in all, a good day though!

I forgot to get the name of the course worker that tracked me down and gave me my wheel well, big thanks for dragging back and give it back to me.
Not sure if it was me or Steve that lost it, but wow, the whole right side wheel well liner got pulled out, thing is like 4 foot long !

I forgot I was supposed to suck less and ended up fighting the car all morning, with cones as collateral damage. Still, a rough day of autocross turns out to be a great day!
Decided to just let loose on the final run:

Sorry, David. I'd probably do better in your car.

Day started with a grin and ended with a

fun day.
First to thank Steve for paying extra for the FAST weather insurance policy. Perfect day.
I got faster almost every single run except for #7 when I guess my knee bumped the coin holder button and made it rain change all over my floor and door. The distraction was too much and I totally blew that run hit a cone and then missed a gate and OC'd a short cut to the finish. So yes I was going thru the change on that run. Funny now but not then.
Special thanks to Dave O'Neal for fixing my plastic bumper exhaust trim that I knocked off when smashing that cone after losing all my cents.
The numbers once again posted by S4 boggled my small mind. Those guys are awesome. They just keep getting faster somehow? 45.1 over and over. Or maybe I'm just getting older faster?
M2 has a massive following of super competitive drivers. I believe Drew got FTD 43.2 driving John's car!! His goal was to beat Ken and he did by about .1 second.
Dat in his S1 truly stock car did a 43.3 on more than one occasion which was a virtual tie with Ken driving truly stock in S0.
Glad everyone enjoyed one of our Brooksville favorites Coney Island treat!! I love it when people don't mess with great recipes for decades. Also I don't eat there very often as it would probably clog my drain.
Anyone who missed Phillip driving the FWD VW missed a really entertaining run. I've never seen a FWD car have such a tail happy puppy day.
Ben getting into the 47's with that Fastiva car on that course!!
If this were a points event yearly totals would have changed in a few classes!!
I saw a lot of great/safe driving today. I thought my new invention worked very well. I put those frozen plastic tubes for drink bottles into my tire sprayer to keep the water colder. I thought it worked great from my 4th run on using it on the front tires as I kept getting faster and faster. It would work great on an intercooler too. If nothing else that cool water felt great at the finish for washing my sweaty hands off
Thanks everyone for another great day autocrossing.
Doug

Great course, great food, and great people. I was a little taken aback by how friendly everyone was - very cool.
I learned a lot in the little blue NC, most notably how important tires are!
And my apologies to the course worker that had to clean up the 4-5 cones that I smashed into on my last run. Pulling the ABS fuse seemed like a good idea at the time...

That's not entirely true. My goal was to beat EVERYONE. Not because of me, but because I knew John's car had an FTD in it. I should put my sticker on its nose.

Depends...your car wasn't always solidly connected to the ground at all points! Enjoy this one.

Once the brakes and the front suspension are sorted out, that car will be pretty quick. While there's not much power, at this point, it doesn't feel like it's lacking for it (so long as there's no ballast in the right seat). With one wheel up, the rear end doesn't slide -- it hops. A little disconcerting at first, but it's more stable than I expected. Thoroughly a fun drive.

Definitely big fun! With 8 runs, I would have thought I could have gone faster, but I actually went the other way. My best time was my fourth run, and though I improved later on some parts of the course, I made up for it by slowing down on others. Great course, Steve! Thanks to all for a good time

Thanks Denny.
Did anyone happen to notice how much soda was left at the end of the day? I know we still have lots of water.

I know we didn't have a whole lot to begin with, I'd guess maybe a case left total ?
