Is anyone employed by St. Petersburg College...

...and does or can regularly attend events there?
New rules at SPC require a "representative" of the college to be on-site during events, such as autocrosses. If there is not, then we have to hire, you guessed it, a security guard from the college.
They are letting us slide for now, as I am in the process of becoming employed there, specifically to be the "rep." If we've already got someone who could play the role (which involves literally nothing other than being there), I really do not want to go through the hassle of getting employed if I don't have to (and it is a hassle - I'm trying to hold in a rant).
Is there anyone? pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease

Let the rant flow! This is total B.S. and the sort of thing that could burn someone out. . .I don't want you to burn out.
Somebody give Steve a cookie! 8)

Dan caught some of the rant in person (thanks, Dan).

I like cookies.
1. Online application number 1.
2. Online application number 2. This one actually has "essay" questions. (my philosophy on higher education: "Knowledge is power: the more the merrier.") I hope that's acceptable...
3. Paper applications/forms. quarter-inch thick stack. two forms have to be notarized (one is my promising to uphold the US Constitution). Return forms in person.
4. They will request college transcripts, which I will undoubtedly get billed for.
5. New employee orientation at some as-yet undisclosed location off Ulmerton Rd. I get to take time off from work to do this. Minimum 3 hours, including travel. I don't get paid time off.
6. Online sexual harrassment course. (I always wanted to learn how to sexually harrass someone

)
7. I'm sure there's more but at this point, that's what I've been told.
When Dan heard all this it was peppered with 4-letter words - kinda got it out of my system...

The course they make us take here at work is actually kinda funny. Its so blatantly over the top.

We just had to take an anti-porn class too.
You should have seen the memos come out....
"Did you complete your porn class yet?"
"The deadline is about to pass to complete your porn class?"

What if you want to sexually harass someone in person? They don't teach you that! Better sign up for Second Life.

We had an in-office one, the instructor told one of our directors to "shut the hell up you son of a bitch". We objected on the word "bitch" as sexual harassment. Our group can be a serious pain in the ass, we threw some many of their examples back at them to point out the absolute stupidity of it.. they were not the most happy instructors I've ever seen..
We have never again had a sexual harassment class at the company...

This is probably a little late but both Diane and I are adjunct instructors. We've both been real busy so we haven't been there in awhile.

No doubt you've been busy, Rob. Glad to see you're still lurking around out there in internet-land.
Except for learning how to sexually harrass someone, the process is basically done...
