Jan 2 FAST Classic @ Brooksville

Ring in the new year with FAST!
We're going back to a full-on FAST Classic this time. If you've not done one, a FAST Classic is a sort of old school "small club" autocross, but with the usual FAST flair! Fewer drivers, a little later start, a respectably early end, awesome lunch... oh, and lots of runs! (usually around 8) A little less focus on competition, a lot less focus on teaching the novices, and a lot more focus on having a good time! It's a great opportunity to get some practice, swap cars with some friends, and just have some extra fun.
The catch is, to make this work smoothly, everyone needs to know what they're doing. So, we do require that all entrants have at least 3 events of prior experience.
What are you waiting for, get registered!
Registration is open until 12/28!

Just a heads up, we're at 38 entries as of right now and they're coming in fast. Just like 12/19, we're getting a lot of people from all over the state. Get in while you can, I have a strong feeling that this one is going to sell out!

Yep, new cones, so trying to use all of them with a really long course!

Hey Loren,
The course looks great! Definitely a change from the traditional peanut variations at Brooksville. I guess you really don't want anyone to hit the turn around marker

I don't want you to hit anything, Dan.

Yes, but 14 seconds for wiping out the turn around! Even one cone ruins a run so there must be something special about getting the right line through there

It's just a way to identify the turn-around apex clearly. When was the last time you hit the exit apex on a turn-around, anyway?
Don't overthink it. Like I tell my driving students when we're practicing parking between cones for their license test: "Don't hit stuff."
The difficult part of this course isn't even where you're focusing. The first cross-course left will be a bitch if you don't slow down enough and set up for it. And the decreasing slalom after the turn-around is going to kick your ass.

I updated my registration to M2 but since that is still tentative is it possible for me to change class on the day of the event before the first runs?

I think the station 3 course workers may get plenty of exercise on this one. Maybe station 1 as well, depending on the exuberance of the muscle car drivers out of the gate. Looks like a fun and challenging course. Looking forward to it.

It reminds me of the right hander at the end from the event on the 8th of November. Felt like I never got that turn right.
