FYI, as of today, registration is already half full. (half empty, if you're a pessimist)

Gonna blast it to Facebook very soon. Don't be surprised if this one sells out!

Crap, I better hurry up and sign up!

Ok, done.

I'm looking for a ride for this event. Anyone interested in a showdown? or instruction? or gas/tire money? :notworthy:

Hello everyone! This event will be a first for me and a friend as well as our guests. I have a few questions about this event.

What tape is recommended for putting the numbers on your car? I'm just worried they will be baked onto the car if I use improper tape.
I searched the forum and it sounds like you will have tape available at the track.

We will be attending both the morning and evening events and as lunch is not provided; Would it be possible to go and get pizza in between the sessions?

Will there be any covered areas for guests? I'm guessing at the very least i should bring chairs for them.

For work assignments, should I bring a safety vest or will one be provided?

Are there any rules regarding Go-Pros?

Welcome!

Regarding tape it is provided but it can't hurt to bring your own. Painter tape ( the blue stuff ) is the most common.

I "think" if you are doing both sessions ( morning & afternoon ) lunch will actually be provided.

At Brooksville we don't have any covered areas and bringing a chair is great idea.

Safety vests will be provided for the course workers when they head out to work course.

GoPros have to be safely mounted, handheld video is not allowed. A lot of us use the suction cup mount, some people even mount them to their helmets for some cool video. Basicly it has to be attached to something in a way it won't fall off during an autocross run.

You'll have fun, I did both morning & afternoon my first time out and it's a great way to dive into autocross. With the way FAST runs things it feels more like 2 events than 2 sessions.

If blue tape won't show up on the car (blue painters tape is a near match for an EBP Prelude), grab a role of the lime-green color from the hardware store. And if any tape residue hangs on, Goo-Gone takes it off.
At Brooksville we don't have any covered areas and bringing a chair is great idea.
Not a bad idea to bring portable shade, either. If you decide to bring a pop-up canopy, make sure you bring something to anchor it with. And keep in mind we're on concrete (stakes don't work!).

Always nice to see a Prelude turn out.

As has been said, we have tape. Usually Blue, sometimes Green and Yellow. It's low-tack masking tape, no residue. If you want to get a little fancier, you could print your numbers on paper from the templates Here and tape those to your car.

Double-entries ALWAYS get lunch. We can't have you being there all day and not eating! (btw, that's all clearly stated in the event info that you didn't read when you registered... but, that's okay, nobody else reads it, either  )

Shade and seating for guests is your responsibility. If you bring a pop-up, be sure to bring something heavy to tie it to so that it can't blow away and hit someone's car. (yes, that has happened)

We have safety vests. All you need to bring is a safe car and your driver's license.

In-car or on-car cameras are fine, but must be well-secured. Quality suction cup mounts are fine, though I would recommend some kind of lanyard in case your mount fails. (videos from cameras that fall off of cars, hit the pavement and get picked up by course workers are the coolest thing!)

Y'all know I'm bringing a new type of tires to this event, right?

The same set I beat Mario with last year while breaking them in over 15 runs!!

1.5mm less mold release compound now.

My car is "vetted". Approved for racing with FAST now.

Tony you really need Steve to co-drive. Put that $10'er on the wiper now. Ken got beat by 2 seconds last event. Hmmmm.

Registration is open for another week (Jan 11), but it's filling up quickly. Currently only a few slots in the Late session and about 15 in the Early session. Don't say nobody warned you!

This'll be the maiden event for my new (old) Miata. Check engine lights are all gone, suspension is done, sticky tires are on... No more excuses now! As long as it doesn't rain. :)

Lets see what S4 is all about...

S4 is where you cord the outside edges of your tires while the middles look like new. :P

True story, on my first set of Rivals I corded two of them on the center rib, and only one on the shoulder. That was back in the S2 days, so who knows. :dunno:

DO NOT be afraid to ask to jump in the car with others. This is really important...don't be shy! You will learn so much as a passenger!

A million times this!

Even as an experienced autocrosser, ride with other drivers!

Also, let an instructor drive your car! I know you're protective of your cars, but it's such an eye opener to see what they're really capable of!

When will I have time to do a ride-a-long? It sounded like if I'm not driving I'll be working the track.

Also, any idea what the provided lunch will be?

The grid will be 20 cars long and a queue of just 3 or so at the start line; usually it's easiest to grid back and hitch a ride at the front during your run group.

We will have you line up at the back end of the grid and you can ride with people near the front. Plenty of time as long as you don't jump in a car that is only like 4 or 5 slots away.
Lunch will be tasty and filling and free. What else can you ask for?

If you have any dietary restrictions, make sure you forward that along. You know, "I don't eat things with a face," "I don't do swine" "I am allergic to chicken feet" "I have that wheat thing that Steve has." That sort of stuff.

Figuring out lunch is one of the last things we plan. If you're just curious, well, hope you like suspense. 8-) If you do have a dietary restriction, we do try to accommodate, within reason. Feel free to send me a p.m. if you'd like. And, of course, since lunch is complimentary with your entry, you aren't obligated to eat it. Feel free to bring anything of your own - but no grills/compressed gas cooking devices, and no alcoholic beverages!

And I'm looking for a codrive for this event - be happy to play instructor with you. Don't feel obligated - I'm just begging... but if you want...
