Feb 28 - Endurocross 2016!

Endurocross Registration is Open!

Endurocross has been our "traditional" August event for several years now, but we've decided to give it a go in a cooler month this year. It is one of the most fun autocross variants we know of, and it happens to be very "casual" because each car is on course for so long that everything seems to happen really slowly. (for everyone but the driver on course)

An "Enduro" autocross is one where each run consists of multiple laps of a course that is designed to allow easy looping and to be relatively easy to drive. We usually do 4 or 5 lap runs for a run time of about 3.5-4 minutes. That's right... a whole event's worth of autocross in ONE run! Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty intense and it WILL wear you out! This time, we'll be doing two runs on a variant of our "traditional" Enduro course. Here are the official Endurocross 2016 Rules.

The format of these event will be sort of a hybrid between our typical FAST Classic format (casual, limited entry, lunch included) and our typical FAST Open format (two sessions so that you don't have to be there all day). Be sure to read all of the details on the registration website!

• This is a FAST Special Event that is not suited to first-time autocrossers, which means that "some experience is required". If you've done at least one FAST event, you're welcome to attend, though we'd recommend a minimum of more like 3 events to get the most out of it.
• Registration is limited to 52 drivers. (26 drivers per session)
• The Endurocross is a unique autocross experience that can help you hone your skills by allowing you to immediately experience the same course several times so that you can identify mistakes and improve on the next lap. And, it's just plain fun!
• Lunch IS included for this event.
• In the interest of maximum run time, we'll start early, run late and NOT stop for anything once we're rolling. This means no Late Session course walk... if you want to walk the course, you need to be there BEFORE the Early Session driver's meeting!
• What are you waiting for? Get registered!

Ben and I have decided to not put the FASTiva through the torture of the Endurocross in hopes that the engine will survive the rest of the season. That said, I'm looking for a co-drive for the Enduro. Tire money is available.

I'm also open to a co-drive, but I'm prepared to cord the snot out of my old set of Rivals on my 10AE if needed.

Ben and Loren.

I have two cars that are competitive and reliable with less than optimum tires. (For now.)
Talk to me. I learned a lesson last time about using a higher gear and laying off the brakes to keep things cool :)

Balls vs Brains. I cannot count loops so keep me off the starter spot.

You'll pick up one car and bring it home, right? I'm signing up to beat that Scott guy (and you both of course DOH). AND LES the "ringer".

Assuming we ever get to reg, I'm open to a co-drive as well if that makes car logistics any easier. No point in keeping these RS3's for more then 5 months... lol.

So how do I enter two winning cars?

After remembering the joy of all season tires I might get my backup pair mounted up and kill them. I'll take a co-driver if I do that and I have finished my clutch ( 90% chance ). Otherwise I might also need a co-drive as my clutch is dying.

Is that under R1? Then yes.

That Jamie Guy is the ONLY one to have beaten both my Rx8 AND Vette.

I will give See Alice to my co-drivers this time.

As of today, registration is open to current FAST members (those who competed in 5 or more events LAST season). Assuming our 75 members don't sell out the event (they never have before), you'll get your chance to register starting sometime this weekend.

Thanks for all the offers to co-drive! Sounds like I get the luxury of "shopping" for a co-drive, which is kinda cool. Anybody else wanna throw their keys into the hat? :D

I'm late to the Ball but Chispa I can take one co-driver. Both you and Ben enjoyed her and she likes you, too.

I'm planning to have my Miata fixed for this one, and hopefully my shoulder as well. If the car's ready and I bring it, I can share too. If the car's not ready and my shoulder is, I'll be looking to car-whore again. If neither one's ready, I may or may not even show up... shrug (ouch - can't do that yet). We'll have to see.

Okay, registration is wide open (anyone but first-timers) and public. Go register.

I'll be "the guy" to get the dumb question out for anyone else's benefit...

Since this is a classic event but with split format, does that make a single 2 runs x4 laps and a double registration something insane like 4 x 4?

Usually an Enduro is 4 runs of multiple laps (also usually 4) - 2 practice and two timed. So a double entry would double that.

Man, Steve hasn't done an Enduro in a while.

From the published event info that Dan clicked past without reading:

"An "Enduro" autocross is one where each run consists of multiple laps of a course that is designed to allow easy looping and to be relatively easy to drive. We usually do 4 or 5 lap runs for a run time of about 3.5-4 minutes. That's right... a whole event's worth of autocross in ONE run! Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty intense and it WILL wear you out! This time, we'll be doing two runs on a variant of our "traditional" Enduro course."

So, there you go. Two runs of 4-5 laps each. If you run both sessions that's x2.

Sometimes we do a practice run of 2 laps, but if the event sells out, we won't have time to do it and you'll have to figure it out on the first lap of your first run. This is why we don't allow first timers at the Endurocross!
