A brief drive illustrating the response of Moto-East's new NC MX-5 turbo kit on a completely stock 2011 Ford Fusion (may it R.I.P.) 2.5 junkyard motor. This particular version has the optional GTX2867r turbo. This is on 93 octane pump gas and still has the original stock muffler. The Aeroforce gauges read boost and AFR from the OBD2 stream.
The facts of this NC are amazing. He said 260-270 RWHP!! Used later model stronger 6 speed as earlier ones go toast. He now has a boost controller on the car and it is just crazy fast at only 9psi. He said this turbo can do 17psi. He's looking into a different rear ratio 4.11? Really interesting to listen to. He had a supercharged Miata prior to this conversion.

I think he said it does 12's on street tires in 1/4 mile.

I was surprised he used a Ford motor for this project!!

I found this video just typing in his name. There were a couple others from drag strip but couldn't really see much.

The engine in the NC is the 2.0 variant of the same engine. Mazda calls it MZR, Ford calls it something else.

Every Mazda or Ford 2.0, 2.3 or 2.5 has been on this platform since at least 2005.

BTW, the major difference is simply block height. Heads and manifolds are interchangable. The 2.3 and 2.5 are simply taller than the 2.0 that came in the MX-5.

There's my dopple ganger NC floating around Tampa with a similar Moto East setup on the 2.0 which of 300ish at the crank at single digits of boost.

I knew you'd know all about these things. So what will it be like to some day drive the Fastiva with one of these setups? Woohoo. Even without the turbo. :whip:

The early Miata engine (which is related to the Festiva 1.3) is totally unrelated to the MZR family.

But, even just a stock 1.6 Miata engine (110 hp )would almost double the power of the Festiva!
