10th Anniversary of FAST!

10 Years! Can you believe it???

FAST was incorporated in December of 2006, and our first official "FAST Autocross" was held on January 13, 2007 at St. Pete College. 10 Years of FAST. 155 Autocross events. I'm not going to take the time to count how many entries, how many competitors, or how many runs. Suffice it to say, LOTS!

To commemorate our 10th Anniversary, we've ordered a limited run of full color decals that we'll be giving away for free until they're gone. Be sure to grab a couple at the first January event you attend!

We've also designed a pretty cool shirt that we're making available in a variety of colors and in Ladies cut. These are available in a group buy that will be open until January 2nd. Be sure to place your order before then, and we'll deliver the shirts at the next event.

10th Anniversary of FAST!

Postby Loren » Tue Nov 29, 2016 12:58 am

All of the people mentioned below (and many others) were, without question, instrumental in shaping FAST into what it is today. We're glad they were around to help kick things off, and even more glad that we've been able to hold their attention for 10 years. :notworthy:

The True FAST Faithful:
All have attended events in every year since 2007. Exception: Aaron Parke was out for 2012, but he had a brain tumor, so I'll give him a pass!

Steven Frank
Brian Heintzman
Brian Kollar
Aaron Parke
Chuck Ray
Drew Scoda
Jamie Sculerati
Charles Stowe
Bob Tamandli
Scott Wheeler

Honorable Mention:
These folks were around at the beginning, and active in the past year, but had some lapses of a year or more.

Jason Ball
Dave Balogh
Tod Byram
Elliot Harvey
Mark Lasota
Adam Parke
Mary Wheeler

Secondary Mention:
Were around at the beginning, not within the last season, but within the prior season, possibly with some other gaps.

Terry Glazar
Rydell Huff
Carl Nyman
Bill Obrien
Howard Sharf

I would like to thank all those who take time out of their schedule to provide an outlet for people who like to drive fast without all the drama and politics of most clubs. Very well done!

10th Anniversary of FAST!

Postby dbeng » Tue Nov 29, 2016 9:50 pm

Congrats on 10 years guys :thumbwink:
I've only been around for two of them but have thoroughly enjoyed the events as well as the easy going nature of FAST. No annual membership, no monthly board meetings, just a casual get together at a (great) restaurant / brewery for those interested to shoot the breeze and enjoy good company. The events run smoothly and almost always on or ahead of schedule. Then there are the classic events - even more laid back than the regular events, with multiple runs, car swapping and general camaraderie at an all time high.
Thanks all and keep up great work :salute:
Dan.

When I first started running I was shocked how nice and helpful everyone was. I still love that big party feel at the events. Thanks for all the fun guys and gals!

Sidenote: It seems Drew ( his Mustang and Miata ), Steve and Jamie have run the same car with FAST the longest as all 4 cars ran at the first even and within the last 2 years.

I'd give Brian some credit for Drew's Miata. He competed in it through last year.

Also, I'm not sure when Charles started driving it (or when he ended up buying it), but his 240 was at that first event driven by Jeremy.

And, be sure to ask Elliot how many years he's been driving that Datsun sometime. :dunno:

I think Jamie's car gets the longevity award, though. Drew's Mustang was close until just recently. Jamie's car was out of commission for a bit, but, it's BACK already. Unstoppable.

Yup -got my Miata in summer of 2005. I've put about 25k miles on her since. ..almost all autocrossing or driving to or from an event of some sort. She's still a baby with only 96k miles so i hope there's a lot more good times to come!

I think Steve's, Jamie's and my cars need FAST event horizon stickers.

The Fastiva might go down in the books with the most ever laps over two years out of the ten prior? With running it twice a month it's not even a contest with 3+ drivers. FORD had a better idea.

Yay for 10 years of FAST, 'cause for the first nine I missed out. :dunno:

Here's to the longevity of FAST and the Fastiva - may it break less than the Mayor's cars. :snicker:

If you would let 1/4 as many people drive your car as I have mine over the last 10 years you'd see if both it and yourself are any good.

Happy Anniversary FAST! I've enjoyed all of the events over the past years. I think my first event was in 2010 when I had my blue S2000. Looking forward to many more events to come.

Thank you to the FAST staff for everything you'll do to put these events on for us.

Wow, 10 years already ? Seems just like yesterday we were writing times on a dry erase board and running short of orange cones. Schedule ? That was assumed, but we all somehow put it all together back then and pulled off fun events with a couple of crappy radios and no working generator. Ah the good ol' days.

Guess I will need to attend a event soon so I can pick up my 10th anniversary sticker !

And the stickers may be available as early as December 17 if they show up Friday like they're supposed to. They have been shipped.
