Great event from start to finish. Thanks for spending your New Year's Day with FAST!

Another great day at the airstrip. Course was fun and fast.

Thanks to Lauren for the pointers. I was able to shave .2 by taking your advise. Smoothness will be my next focus.

Something seems to have gone awry with timing. I only show 5 times but I did all seven runs. I'm pretty sure my last run was the 44.70 (I know my last was a 44.7 something anyway) that went to Sophia. Not sure where my 6th run went. Not complaining though, still took 1st in class

The course was very interesting... I left feeling like I've never gone quicker but then recalled I never even hit the Rev limiter in second gear. It felt really fast though, with so many flat out acceleration sectons. Very well designed, compliments to the chef.

I personally feel like that's the best I've ever driven even though Drew and Bill were beating me until the very last run. I thought I should be safe with my mid 42, I was dead wrong. Great driving by many today.

What a great day, was good to catch up with everyone, (figuratively, not literally unfortunately)
Perfect weather and a challenging course. Some courses I seem to have no problem reading and remembering, others just mess with my head and this was one of them

In Philip's absence I thought I'd better bring the camera along and took some pictures of the first and second run groups. I hope to get them posted some time tomorrow.
Thanks as always to everyone for putting on such a great event. I can't think of a better way to start the new year!

Once again, thank you to everyone for coming out on this holiday Sunday and beating down some tarmac! Things ran quite smoothly, and 7 runs was a good number.

I enjoyed shaking down my new-to-me Civic. I do like the car very much...I do not like ContiProContact tires for autocross - ick. One of my faster times was when I left the traction control on. Heh. I did a lot of overdriving today...
Dan - never-you-mind that cone - that raw time was a solid half-second faster, and no cone cost that! Good job! I'm gonna horn back into the Fastiva, so it'll be you and the Miatas at the next one.

really? Im sure that on my fastest time I was on the Rev limiter for at least 4 seconds total.

I really liked the course, i did some tinkering and the car felt great. i took a ride with Joe and that helped a lot. I'm usually consistent but I had a dnf, a spin out and 3 botched runs. hoping to be able to come out more as I desperately need the seat time.

I was also on the limiter for quite a while on the 2nd half of the course towards the end, I probably should have shifted. With seven runs, I should have tried it.

AP2 vs AP1 gearing it sounds like? I think AP1's go slightly higher in 2nd

Great way to spend new year's day and a fun course. I hadn't realized it, but it appears I've not given the Miata a good flogging since September!

Didn't think I drove too well. After being a passenger in two spinouts, one off the runway, it kind of gets in your head. Especially the first spinout, as we slid across the runway toward where a Miata was coming out through the slalom.

As it turns out, after throwing my co-driver ballast out of the car, I actually ran a decent run. As a matter of fact, I should quit while I'm ahead -- finally came in ahead of all the folks in M4 that are always whuppin' on our sad asses.

^^^ You and Doug were quite "entertaining" today!
Especially the slide through the grass around the outside of the finish lights...we though for sure the lights were goners.

The slide across the runway towards the miata that was directly in front of me could have easily been the perfect disaster. About as scared as I've been while working. Glad everyone was okay, not sure the miata even knew. He continued like nothing happened lol

Yeah I thought it was strange that he kept going as if he hadn't seen us. I was expecting to see red flags everywhere but I guess we stopped in time. I was definitely unnerved.

Things sometimes look scary from various perspectives. I saw this one as it happened, and while it wasn't great... the car didn't travel more than 50 feet off of it's path in a place where there is 75 feet of space between the two sides of the course. (look at the course map) Doug stopped at least 20 feet short of a problem. Doesn't sound like much, but it's actually plenty. And, realistically, it's all we can have at Brooksville unless we run one car at a time.

But, it does highlight the reasoning behind our standard "in a spin, both feet in" mantra. Get the car stopped!

on my second run my eyes were tracking cones, I look up and I'm aiming at a guy on the course. while it was not nearly as bad, the thought of hitting him shook me.

Mr.Lineberry, post up your video, please. very interested in how you drove this one. this is closest I've been to your time, despite the thought of it being a fluke, im hoping to continue this trend.

Oh, we saw them. They were headed right for us and I was just trying to get the hell out of their way. It was definitely an "oh sh*t moment," but I didn't see the need to stop. Here's the video. It looks like they may have crossed our path, but it's hard to tell. It was definitely too close for comfort.
