POLL - Classic start time
Feedback at the New Year day Classic event, which started at 10 and finished about 4:30, was positive - it seems at least some of y'all liked sleeping in a little. So, we're wondering if we shouldn't maybe think about the possibility of perhaps considering looking at adjusting the schedule of some of the Classic events.
I've put together a little poll. Vote for one choice, but you can change your vote if someone says something in discussion that changes your mind. So, yeah, feel free to offer comments, discussion, polite lobbying, whatever...

And if you have a preference (or not), but wouldn't mind alternating or something like that... reply and let us know your thoughts.

Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

I like the way it is but I don't mind waking up early and I like getting done earlier (keeps the wife happy that I'm not gone ALL day).

I don't mind the early starts, it's nice to get home and still have some day left, not to mention in the hotter months it means less time in the killer afternoon heat. Having said that, the more relaxed morning on the Jan 1st event was quite nice, but it was also a cooler time of the year.
I'm torn between keep it as is, or the compromise of start an hour later but no official lunch break so done at the same time. For now I will go with the compromise, 9:00 arrival with on the fly lunch.

I would leave it as is, but maybe adjust it for earlier starts when the rainy season arrives ?

I am an owl. NOT a Lark.
No hesitation to have a later start AND actually show up.

If there were a M-F option I'd vote for that. Probably a lot of drivers are retired at an early age. Especially the ex-military? I've never asked.dan wrote:Where's the Saturday & Sunday option?

The Lunch break is when we get to talk to each other. DOH. The 1/2 hour you didn't have to listen to the frickin' rules is allowing us to bullshit at lunchtime. So you want to save $5 for lunch and go home to burned "Mushy Peas" = God I hate those things? Okay then, be jealous of the lunch The Mayor or Loren can find for the hungry ones to relish between runs. Maybe a grill with slow cooked delicacies like Shrimp Kabob or Steak or burgers ala Mayor? You will lose twice. I'll bring you all the mushy peas you want or Welsh Rarebit if you want. Do as I say Brit.dbeng wrote:I'm torn between keep it as is, or the compromise of start an hour later but no official lunch break so done at the same time. And as I said, torn between the two so I'm also fine with the regular schedule, it'll be interesting to see how the votes develop.
(And leave those mushy peas alone) now I'm off for a pie & a pint

Personally I like the current classic format. Get up at a reasonable time, trash talk, race a bit, trash talk a bit more and eat, race, clean up, go home. Still I'm fine with any option as long as we can keep the laid-back feel that I love.

Your definition of "reasonable time" and mine differ greatly. There is nothing "reasonable" about getting up before the sun, its quite unreasonable I believe.Carracer wrote:Personally I like the current classic format. Seems a second poll will be in order, most people want to arrive at 9 or later.

This poll will be open for a while. So far, only 12 people have voted. We're just collecting info. We'll decide what to do with it later.
Best analysis so far is simply that 25% want to blow off the lunch break, and 75% don't.
Second analysis... a little over 50% would like a later start time.
Good info so far, but more people could chime in and completely skew those results. So, it's really to early to make any assumptions.

Indeed. One of the major points of doing Classics is to bring back the "social half-hour" lunch break. Otherwise it's just half an Open.Loren wrote:Best analysis so far is simply that 25% want to blow off the lunch break, and 75% don't.
