I heard Loren asking if the Enduro should be offered more than once a year - figure it's opportune to ask at high tide; vote/post up.

(Does Tapatalk show the voting poll?)

It would not hurt my feelings if every event wasn't Enduro

Cause you've not done the duel!

More seriously, I think that the FAST guys mix it up with a special event ~ once a quarter; special ultimately meaning it gets away from traditional Ax runs. There are those who are definitely looking for the added seat time in classic events whereas some of us really enjoy the creative formats.

More enduros mean less of something else - be it traditional format classics or the other specials (duel, relay, school, gymkana, etc).

I think they used to do 3 laps 3 times? Until someone (me) couldn't count and we did 4 laps. Oops. It's a lot easier on your car and wallet than a track day for sure. This last format did a nice job of evening out tire wear. I'm not going to vote as I wasn't there BUT if you can fill the roster every time do as many as people will show up for Classic events. The Circus is out of business this year. We have to do something entertaining.

Every time someone thinks it would be fun to do a gymkhana, we should do an enduro.

Gymhkana. The genesis of autocross. Some parts of the world still call autocross "gymkhana". Of course, Ken Block has bastardized the term, but that's not what we're talking about. A classic gymkhana is a sort of retro-autocross, harkening back to the more silly nature of autocross of the 50's and 60's, and maybe into the early 70's. (autocross as we know it really came together in the early 70's with the formalization of SCCA's "Solo" program) It will include things that we don't do in modern autocross, such as stop-boxes, TIGHT first-gear turns, the use of reverse, etc.

They have proven to be very polarizing among FAST folk. Cool people love them, whiny people who can't drive hate them. We've only done it twice. Once at SPC, once at Brooksville.

Here's the course map and a video from the last one:

I think the video speaks for itself. You either want to do that kind of thing, or you don't. :thumbwink:

It's easier with an automatic when you change directions. No syncros to mangle.

They still do the traditional Gymkhana in the UK with their little cars in tight manuvers. Their idea of an autocross is done on a grassy field with cones and little cars. Much like our Rally Cross here.

Hi, Ron!
I did it once a long, long time ago at SPC. It was fun, but if I never did it again, I'd be ok. If FAST put on another, I'd probably do it. Just to cement my ambivalence.

Ok, this thread is about Enduros. If we want to discuss Gymkhana, take it outside!

While this is a thread about Enduros, the third Poll option (the one that is currently most popular) addresses other Special Events that we might want to do besides an Enduro. Fair to discuss here, as long as we don't completely derail the thread.

My opinion (in-line with Option 3) is that if we do quarterly Special Events, they shouldn't all be Enduros. More fun to mix it up more than that.

(But, maybe we could do two Enduros in a year? 8-) )

Then let's be sure to do 5 quarters this year so there's room for everything.

Disagreed on the topic issue.
Agreed on the poll - I voted 3 as well. Variety is the spice...
