30 3 FN 70 Mike Redmond 2003 Honda Insight 40.087

R1 19 Doug Adams 2000 Chevrolet Corvette 40.091 0.004
M4 77 Mike Redmond 2003 Honda Insight 40.091 0.000

These results pretty much say it all for me. Mike tied me in normal competition with his hyper miler and beat me by .004sec on his second FN. YIkes. I won't tell you where Baron Von Williams ended up in his Axis auto. It's actually worse than you expected. Soraya however did a great job of reeling him in only to cone away her best run. Next time she will get him as she had fear of Honda hub syndrome on her mind all afternoon.

Sadly for Mike he broke off a front hub that ended his fun runs early and required a hook to get home. No one got hurt by the rolling tire and he will be back soon. Assuming they aren't made of cannotfindium?

There were like 22 FN today so we had more people than I could count in the late session. I saw some crazy quick runs even on cold tires. Some people we've grown to expect fast times out of but others are really stepping up.

Personally this was a fantastic day temperature wise like spring in Ohio. I hit nothing all day and mostly got better as I went along. Great course. Great fun for me today.

Thanks all for putting up with us. See yall soon. Oh all the results have been posted, took wife to a steak house for her salad and got home all ready.

My best run, I somehow got my runs confused in my head, my last/best run had a wide turnaround not the sideways turnaround. Loved the course, just need a bit more discipline to keep the front and rear of the car underneath me.

What the Mayor said. :)
And nice run, Philip!

Great group today - the lots of helpers at the end was especially warming. Thank you to all, without whom it won't happen. :thumbwink:

Mike - hope it's a simple fix - new hub and done. Fingers crossed.

Met and rode with some great novices today - hope any advice I offered was helpful to you. Y'all come back now, ya' hear!?

Bill - your car just keeps getting more and more entertaining - Your latest tweak was a good one! Thanks for the co-drive. I was really aiming to get into the 42s - I got close. I'm usually not too big on targeting times, but for whatever reason, today I had the bug. Fun times!

Thanks for starting the thread, Doug!

Ended up being quite a long day for some of us. Steve made the call early in the day to go ahead and do 5 runs, which seemed like a good idea at the time. But, no good deed goes unpunished. So, of course, things promptly slowed down in the second run group and put us right on the fringe of our schedule. But, we were okay. If you're gonna run long with an event, December is the time to do it!

We were still on-schedule to be done relatively on-time when... a wheel suddently departed from car. (Huuuuge thanks to the nearby course workers for not being foolish enough to think that they could catch it!) No injuries, just a broken car. It's kinda hard to get a FWD car that's missing a front wheel removed from the course! Ultimately, a bunch of people pulled together to get it done, and we picked up where we left off.

In the end, the last run finished just as the sun was going down, and the last car exited the gate around 6:30. I can't remember the last time we ran so late, except for the last night event that we did.

No biggie. Thanks for the patience, camaraderie and help throughout the day, y'all!

Oh, and the results are posted, but somewhat tentative. There were some times shuffled at the very end of the day. Maybe half of the 5th runs for the last run group? Ron's going to have to do some detective work to figure out what happened and fix it. It appears that it won't affect any class finish positions, just "who got FTD".

Once that's sorted out, we'll get the Season Points updated. :thumbwink:

Aside from just being Philip on that run... right about the 29-30 second mark you'll see something that most people didn't do. I didn't even do it. I just couldn't bring myself to add that much distance. But, you can see how setting up for the late-apex to cut across course to the right really paid off.

Well played, Philip!

Apparently, i can run faster than the wind chasing an errant water bottle, but when I drive that fast, I just end up in the grass.
New tires are in order, as this nearly bald set's contactual obligations with the ground have become...complicated.
Also, Dat Nguyen might be a ninja. I knew he was there, I saw his car, but never saw him all day. :headscratch: :dunno:

Here's my 39.4. I forgot to turn on the OBD, and the phone's internal GPS is woefully inaccurate. So, you just get video.

Another great course, another fun event!

Did you see that little blue car, not sure who was driving it but it was quick! It's a mitsubishi something about the size of my shoe.

Anyway, there's no substitute to seat time. On my fun runs over the last few events I've been experimenting and learning a bunch, every single time. That experimentation led to a dirty 40.1 +1 and as usual I did not get it totally right. So, I'm proud of the rust machine. On the way home the low coolant light came on, but the temp gage held steady, and I made it home. No idea what that means yet, but I've a month to figure it out...

See yah at the next one.

@Loren- Lol. Nothing like that.

Well, my car is faster when I let the rear slide out, controlled, to get through certain turns. Example, on the turn around, I've been trying to be smooth and avoid all slippage, which some times meant going slower wider etc. Seems the rust machine and I are not fast like that. It wants me to allow the back to slide around just a bit towards the end where I end up quickly pointed in the right direction and ready to accelerate.

Then there's the "Philosophy" (the epiphany you get from watching Phillip slalom) combined with the fact that my tires were not making any noise through there. That summed up to I was too slow in the slaloms. I just pushed harder there and the car took it without issues. It was a bit too quick for me so I kept nicking a slalom cone, but I can adapt with more practice.
The car can slalom much much faster than I currently do.

Stuff like that

Here is a video of my fourth run. 38.209. I am beginning to feel comfortable in the Z06, I did not run over any cones, at least not enough to get called for them. In this run near the end I glance left to check the mirror because I heard a thump as I passed the cone on the left but it was still standing and there was not a cone call. I am going to have to find a better place for the camera, you can hear a lot of strange noises, that is the camera rubbing on the headliner.

I really enjoyed this course and wish I was as capable as my car. I would also like to thank Cliff Bordwell for handing me my ass in his, what I assume to be, well prepared BRZ.

I didn't think the twins were in M2 so I'm going to have to really improve my driving if he's going to be a regular.

The Mazdaspeed gearing was definitely a hindrance today, but I know I was the bigger problem out there. I need to upload my video and figure out what I did wrong and what I did to cause the off course on my fourth run. I kept saying I didn't rev match, because that's what it felt like, but Les called me out on the insanity of such a statement on an upshift. I'm wondering if I just found first gear instead of third but I need to check the video to be sure.

Anyway I'm happy with how the car felt other than not having enough second gear. I just need to put $400 aside for the next time an Australian rear end pops up for sale. 🤣
