Nice upgrades, but even with all of that suspention work, I have a feeling the bare wheels won't give you a whole lot of traction.

Yup, I do have one of those. Eastwood model. Same one tire rack sells, only cheaper if you just buy it from the manufacturer lol

Let me know, I can bring it to the next autox and we can have all 4 corners done in less than an hour

I don't think a fender roller will do any good since it looks like they are about 2 inches past the fender. I don't think that car has any body roll anyway. I think those springs are just a ruse, it really rides on 4 big blocks of wood.

What it's on is 4 blocks of rubber. It's been set so low that it's on the bump stops.

I believe Charles intends to rectify that situation if he hasn't already... then he'll have some body roll, a suspension that actually works, and quite possibly shredded tires. :shock:

Yup, I've raised the car probably a little over 1" total so far and softened the rears from full stiff ( 8 ) to 6. Felt so much easier to control at the last event. In the afternoon "goof off" session I TRIED to throw the car sideways and couldn't really. Then I decided to let Jeremy try some dorifto action, he didn't have much luck either.

Not sure how soon I will make the transition to the new wheels as I still have plenty of rubber on my current 225's. Hard to be patient on ordering the 255's

These wheels have been disco'd so I picked them up before they were gone....... cheap too. Almost everything is cheap for this car

I plan on test fitting again with temp spacers after I get the tires mounted. With the MacPherson setup this car uses in the front, how much shift (if any) should I expect on the tire/wheel to coilover clearance under full roll? Judging from the fact my current 225's only clear by ~ 3/8" and they don't hit I'll guess "not much".

I just don't want to order one set of spacers only to find out I still don't have enough clearance inside when it rolls.

Edit: online calculator tells me that 11mm spacers on these 17x9 +20's will give me the exact same inner clearance that I have now. Sounds like 10mm would probably squeak by

Looks like I'll have to step up to some coilovers and 10" wide wheels to keep up with Charles. 8)

This is me letting you know I need it ........ wheels are mounted..... without spacers even......testdrive around the block tells me rears hit, I'll know about the fronts tomorrow.........

I'm 1/2 tempted to ask where you picked them up 4x114.3 wheels that are wide are a bit hard to find anymore.

Discount tire direct was blowing them out about 5 months ago...... and yes they have been disco'd........

All 4 wheels came out under $700 shipped

After raising the car enough to clear the tires I can definitely tell these 5+yrs old GAB coilovers are shot.

Probably have been for years........ so it's time for those to go soon......

can you take a picture of one of the GAB's close up namely where the piston rod goes into the shock body, if there are 4 holes 90 degrees apart drilled into it these may be rebuild able. you may still want to buy something new, however a blown set of coilovers is barely worth the value of the springs, a rebuilt set for an S13 can net you $1200 if you get the right buyer.

While GAB of Japan has been absent from the US market for ~10 years and has since shut down, many of their designs got absorbed into other brands so service parts are still "sort of" available if you know where to look. The current GAB suspension is different from the old skool stuff so it takes a keen eye to identify if it's the original JDM stuff or the newer not so much JDM stuff.

back on topic, that stinks the wheels are gone, just another option that I can't have.
