Let me say this: Loren is the most consistent driver I've ever seen. 3 identical runs

That's nearly impossible to the .001 of a second no less. (44.415 x 3)
Dodged the storm too. At 5:45pm I heard the first thunder in Spring Hill 10 miles West. 5:47pm the rain came down pretty hard but now it's just April showers. Whew. Everyone got dry runs. GREAT day with some clouds and a breeze.
THE RESULTS are up. Ron and Loren are computer whizzes. I got home and just plain whizzed.
Other than Joe B I don't think there were any Vettes doing all that well thru the fish bones return section. I could fly out and turn around okay but the fish bones my arms just weren't fast enough to carry any speed thru there and I coned away my best run hitting the second to last cone on the whole course. Grrrrrrrr.
My wife rode with me 4x today and really enjoyed my slow hands for once. Poor Bob T broke his Cobra which sucks after only 3 runs I think. He got it on the trailer is all I know. Mark L brought out his Porsche boxster finally and gave me a good thumping. Eliot was only hitting on 2-3 cylinders but still got FTD. So I wanted to see how fast my vette is supposed to be so I had Drew take my last two runs. Interestingly even starting out in 3rd gear he beat my best dirty time by .3 sec. BUT that is much closer than I thought it would be. Fatass cars require alot more arm movement thru the fishbones. I ended up feeling pretty good only getting beat by a small margin since he coned his 2nd run and was a tad slower even. I might have to consider a slower start. Maybe run the whole course in 2nd ONLY.
Thanks for another great day at the airport everyone. Even my wife enjoyed getting tossed around.
Doug

I went home early to check out what was wrong with my car. The driver’s side sway bar bracket somehow got loose and the swaybar shifted to the passenger side. The clunk came from the bracket, but the passenger side’s sway bar end link crashed into the shock and it’s now damaged (the end link, not the shock). Not bad in terms of parts costs, but it ended my day early. Oh well.

Aftermarket Chinese non-tariff crap:( That rainy day you let Ken borrow your car (so he could beat me in R1) and he put it in the dirt probably caused it. He doesn't even run Hoosiers anymore. Don't you feel used and dirty now?
Glad your car's not injured.

^^^ C'mon, put the two good ones on the front, flip the other two and put 'em out back. We can get another event or two from them. Wait, what am I saying?! I must be tired...
RE-71s, here we come!!
Bill, you got me on raw time, but I managed a faster clean run. I DNF'd my first run, it's not in the results, but no matter, my 3rd did the trick. Car felt good. I can't offer too much specific feedback, as this course was different enough from some of the others we've done lately, so it's not a fair comparison. That said, I don't think it rolled as much with the spring rubbers, which helped it feel more stable and easier to slalom. Backside was well-controlled, but still loose enough to rotate (and make me DNF once... heh).
We sure did get out of there just in time. 10 minutes after I left, it was pouring rain. Thank you to everyone who pitched in and cooperated today. 6 runs was a nice treat, and folks being on-the-ball helped that happen!
Oh, Loren - nice top-20 finish there. Line of shame was quite high, today...

It's too bad Loren bought new 200 tires. Would have been much more interesting to see where he'd be on 100q R888R's or Hoosiers in R1. If he had done that I might have ordered a used sticky pair too for next season. We all know he's consistent but is he "ballsy" consistent? Eliot won FTD with only 2-3 cylinders and some springs. Loren will never have more than 3 cylinders period. What fun. His 1.2 liter is actually smaller than my 1.3 liter Rotary. He hasn't even opened up the exhaust yet

I think once there is an 'M' in the class designation, the line of shame is not so shameful anymore.
Gerry- time to update your avatar pic. Glad mystery clunk is a fairly easy fix.

Thanks for the rides, Doug. It has some more in it, if I was more familiar with it's tendencies.

Fun fun fun. Thanks for a great day. My wife had a blast and seems to be hooked. LOL
Big thanks to Ben and everyone that helped her today. She is already analyzing her runs and telling me how it could have been better. Before I know it she’ll want her own car roflmao.

You know it's a tuff class when you're happy with third place.

What a fun day! I'll echo Steve's thanks to all for lending a hand at the end of the day.
Handful of things to comment on:
twistedwankel wrote:Loren is the most consistent driver I've ever seen. 3 identical runs That's nearly impossible to the .001 of a second no less. (44.415 x 3)
I was surprised myself. All of my runs were within 2/10ths except my 2nd run where I had a passenger and got sloppy. Being that consistent was a little frustrating, though. I really wanted to see something in the 43's, but I couldn't put it together.
Gerry wrote:The driver’s side sway bar bracket somehow got loose
That's called "somebody didn't tighten the sway bar bracket bolts enough." Glad you found the problem and it wasn't anything major!
mymomswagon wrote:think I need new tires
Looks like you could have gotten a lot more runs out of those tires with more diligent rotation.
Native wrote:Oh, Loren - nice top-20 finish there. Line of shame was quite high, today...
Thanks! Soraya's dyno tune on the Fit made me nervous. I guess I was "pushing harder". I've been telling myself in slaloms lately "drive like Philip!"

Pretty sure that would put me on my roof.

yeah, but that's what makes it great, the challenge. Car definitely had more in it, but I couldn't quite reel it in after picking daisies.

Good course, pretty technical imo... Was great getting more practice. Not the best at the slalom course but from the last open event being slalom heavy and then this event as well just making me get the hang of things more. Good stuff for being able to pump out 6 runs! A lot of you so damn fast.
P.S thanks Steve for the pointers.
Here's my 42.997 run. Happy I was barely able to scrape into the 42's. Feedback welcomed. I can see I was late on the wobbles.

Great times, didn't think this was a course for a 4 door but you made it work

Out of the top 10 raw, 6 are M1 cars. Brannon and Byram also set some great times as they are the only stock cars in the top 10.
Sorry everyone but I forgot my charged camera battery so I didn't get any pictures.

This course was a lot of fun. I feel like I left so much time out there. I'm glad I just snuck in ahead of the mirage. Sorry Ben, 1st in line of shame. LOL. Here's my best clean run as I coned away all my 43s.
Feedback welcomed here also. Need to figure out how to beat Phillip!!

The only thing I see that could have saved you a couple tenths is going too deep into the turn around. Just a tiny bit of added distance.

Lol since you said something I just noticed the next fastest 4 door car was the Mirage

Good call, I def now see the added unnecessary space.

Okay, here's mine. This is my last run. Third of my three 44.415's. I actually hit a cone on this one (exit apex of the turn-around), but the end is funny.
