FAST Open Autocross - May 5 @ Brooksville

Postby Loren » Thu Apr 19, 2018 9:55 pm

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we'll be doing Cinco de Cinco! What's that? It's going to be a fairly long course that includes five wildly different 5-cone slaloms. It's gonna be fun!

This is going to be a FAST Open at Brooksville, event #9 of the 2017-18 Championship. Some of us will be furiously trying to acquire some points, likely more will just be there to have a good time. Come out and have some fun!

Registration & Event Info

Basic event details:
  • This is a FAST Open autocross, that means that it is open to all licensed drivers.
  • Novices and first-timers are encouraged to enter!
  • Pre-registration is REQUIRED for all Drivers AND Guests. We can't let you in the gate if you're not registered.
  • Driver entry fee is $39.99, guest entry fee is $7.99.
  • This will be a split-format event. You can enter the Early session 8am-12pm or the Late Session 12pm-5pm, or both.
  • Snacks and cold beverages will be provided for all registered drivers and guests.

I think you missed the "wildly different" part.

1. Increasing space slalom with a severely offset first cone.

2. Short spaced, easy offset slalom. :wise:

3. Straight up 75' slalom. :thumbwink:

4. Decreasing spaced slalom. :whine:

5. Fast Wallom. :headbang:

Did not account the 4th slalom. I literally only looked at it from a vertical stand point and not the one a little more slanted :smack:

I am looking forward to this. I have been reading about "slithering" through a slalom and want to try it. Although a 10 cone constant rate slalom might be better for experimentation.

My wife’s birthday, our Kentucky Derby party, and an autocross all on the same day. Hmmm. I’m assuming that singing happy birthday, sipping bourbon, betting on the horses, all while autocrossing violates a safety rule...

It's our anniversary too so my wife might come and ride with me again too? The really funny thing is that Loren put 5 green cones representing Phillip's sphincter at the turn around to commemorate his last Mexican meal before an event. Cool.

I just looked at the pm list. What...only 3FN's where there are usually a dozen or more???

Yall are always much faster in the second session and a real challenge for some of us!! No way you're getting into a Mexican Restaurant any time on 5th without a reservation/sarape/guitar or sombrero.

Let your "hangover" be = running twice like usual:) Loren will play some Mariachi music during the course walk.

Steve you're always welcome to take a couple freebies in the plastic pig with it's fat tires and crazy 50 shades of gray experiences. Hopefully you'll clip Loren in his morphing trick Mirage that you can see but isn't for real yet. This course will be nice:) Too bad you can't add to the points total in R1. Staring at 1st place 2pts again. Crap. 2nd place 2 pts isn't much better is it.... :binky: See you on 5th. Ole.

Man, I guess a bunch of people are planning to do some Cinco de Mayo partying Saturday night. The Early Session is jam packed with people on the wait list, and the Late Session is just over half full!

Taking volunteers to move from Early to Late. Or to switch from Early to running BOTH sessions. We could use some more bodies in the afternoon. (fortunately, not a lot of noobs in the afternoon, so we can manage)

I volunteer to switch, if it doesn't mess things up for Steve
