I've somehow convinced Taylor that I can teach him how to do a basic down-and-dirty garage alignment on his Miata. We might also pull his front shocks and install new bump stops.
He's going to come to my place in Safety Harbor on Sep 16 to do that. He's also bringing a fender roller, and we're going to see if we can do some Mirage fender rolling.
If you're interesed in any of those things... or maybe something else if you're capable of working with minimal adult supervision without bleeding in my driveway too much... or you're bored and have nothing else to do, you're welcome to join us!
Would be good to know how many people are coming, and if you have any projects in mind. We'll probably start around 9am, and there will surely be lunch involved. (cuz we like to eat)

I'll have a fender roller, heat gun and spring compressors for anyone that wants to go to town on their car.
Thanks Loren for putting this on and lending a hand!

As we get a better idea of how many people are coming, we can decide what to do about lunch. If it's a small group, we'll probably just wing it and order pizza or sandwiches or something, or step out for Mexican, or whatever.markzeronine wrote:We're in! Did you learn some techniques? I've never rolled myself, just watched someone else do a crappy job and figured I can do it better myself this time. The nc isnt critical, but I'd rather not mess up wifeys pretty new hatch

I've rolled fenders on about a dozen cars. I did a driveway full of S2000s years back when I had my S2000 lol It took a few minutes to remember the techniques that go into it. Got both rear fenders rolled on the Miata today with no issues. Just a tiny paint crack that i touched up. Not bad for 20 year old paint.
Just have to take your time, use heat to keep the paint from cracking and just slowly get the fender to roll up and then pinch it down.
It can be a bit brutal to watch tho, as you have to use some force at times.

Very cool. Sounds like you have much more patience and skill than the guy who did my s2000. I needed to touch up quite a bit of my front fenders, even though in the long run it didn't matter too much, some soft tire rub when I went with a lower offset wheel ground them nice and smooth and even in there anyway lol

My front fenders are so messed up from tires hitting them, I butchered them more trying to roll them more and flare them a little. I didn't feel too bad since they are already trashed. I'll just make another bandaid for the passenger side now.... lolmarkzeronine wrote:Very cool. Sounds like you have much more patience and skill than the guy who did my s2000. This is still happening!
I'm hoping Taylor can show up at 9, so we can get started playing with alignment. Doesn't take that long to do an alignment... but, it might take a while to TALK about doing an alignment.
The rest of y'all can show up whenever!
