After 200K+ miles and hundreds of jack-rabbit starts, it's RIP Bluesight (the car). The CVT belt(s) (finally) gave out...not really unexpected, but sad nonetheless. Luckily, just 5 miles from my Sarasota abode. So, it's an open question about what will happen next. I may be looking for some co-drives through the end of March, probably in Miatas (I have wheels/tires that fit through NBs). I may be looking for a FL home for Bluesight if there's someone ready/able/interested in replacing the CVT, or converting to K20 (or equiv). I may end up hauling it back to WI. I'll eventually have to find something to drive down here next season (Dec '19), but that's a ways off...
Anyways...that's the sad news. More as things develop...

You might find something here at Mark's sale in Valrico? Someone told me yesterday the really nice Boxster is down to $5k now. Bargain basement.
This Saturday.

What was it Soraya said about M4 being the death of cars? How many is that now? Nearly all have died this season. Lazarus Class.
I'd say I'm sorry for your loss but this was a forgone conclusion with all those mods:)

There are two others of those who might want a good parts car?

I think I've decided to haul it back to WI and take the good parts off this one and stick them on my grey version up there (or swap the 'train from the grey to the blue...I do like the blue). I've put more into the Bluesight than it will ever be worth...but what's new with that to an autocrosser...?
So it probably will wait until next season to decide what I'll be driving then. If I get into hauling (like getting a trailer), maybe I'll even bring down the Miata. Know anyone with a good deal on a single axle, aluminum (light weight) hauler/trailer with brakes? My limit is supposed to be 3500lb...with maybe 1800-2000 for the car...better be less than 1500lb for the trailer...

LHT swapped an L15 Fit motor into an insight with all the accessories still on it.

That sure is a bummer, Mike. 200k is pretty respectable. Sounds like you've got several good options!

Sounds like a FAST garage weekend or two is in order once again? Those folks are amazing.

So little time for so many options. At the moment, I'm trying to find a FL home for it...either as a rolling shell or for conversion...or a CVT/drivetrain repairable Insight for daily driving, or maybe back to racing. Finding a way to haul back to WI at the end of March is second option. Trying to do a rebuild over the next week or two is tough to deal with due to time constraints, parts acquisition and economics...
B
PS...for this group, rolling shell is $700...good engine but no IMA battery. Adding the battery...another $500 (total $1200). Including all the sporting gear to run Bluesight, including 4 tires and Konig wheels...add $600 more (total $1800).

Maybe Ben when he finally disposes of the Festiva and gives up on the Fiesta...

A CV drive with rubber belt out of a Skidoo would work very well. Skidoo has way more HP so it won't break ever. Oh the old ones don't have reverse is all. The newer ones do so you can back it off the trailer. For $1000 I can buy a decent 100k mile semi-dead 2004-08 RX8 6spd and have engine rebuilt for $1200. I can never own an M4 car because I treat the area around the house and carport with slug killer.

Not sure if I will be this lucky, but thank goodness for the Web and the Insight folks that use it. There may be a relatively easy fix to the Bluesight problem. I'll find out more hopefully tomorrow. And I'm not sure that the fix is quite so easy and quick that I can do it in the next week or so. But at least there is a chance to resurrect Bluesight from the sudden death experience...
Stay tuned...

PS...Disposal will be on hold for the time being...

You're never beating the car you are only beating the old man Sunday driving it.

So I've motivated you to put even more money into the slug?

Bluesight lives for another day. Drop the CVT, replace the flywheel, and put it back together...it was so easy (NOT)...
