Before you hear rumors elsewhere, here's the scoop:
We knew this day was coming, and we were hoping it was a few years down the road. But, today we got notice that our last event on the Brooksville airstrip will be April 9th.
Pemco, the company responsible for dismantling all of the planes we've seen out there lately, is taking over the entire runway from end to end. No negotiation, no wiggle room, no working around it, they want the whole thing, and that's that. We had to beg to even get our April 9th event, they were talking "within the next few weeks".
The airport manager has presented us with some other options that we're looking into, but don't get your hopes up. They're not great options.
So, get registered for March 23rd, and April 7th and say goodbye to the crusty old Brooksville concrete that we've all grown to love.

Wow.... this sucks... This really really sucks. So I'm assuming our only spot left is Dunellon, which is another hour north from Brooksville? Well... There goes autocross. [emoji17]

Dude, this is pretty devastating news.... Obviously I'm sure FAST is planning for the future, but have any information on what's to come or plans?

Wow. This sucks.
Has there been any change with the dog tracks now that that has been outlawed?

Anything we can do to help?
Think we can start a gofundme and get enough to some land and pavement? I've seen gofundme's for less deserving ideas.....lol

Stupid stuff that gets a lot of money from gofundme usually goes viral, then all the money comes in. Autocross isn't something that goes viral... But couldn't hurt....

It's not going to help immediately, but we're already in the initial planning "feasibility study" stages of figuring out what it would take to build or buy an autocross facility. When we're ready, if we decide that it CAN be done, we will be doing some Crowd Funding to get the ball rolling.
But, we're not there yet.

I've got family in the construction and concrete business and they are petrol heads like us. If it comes to something like that, maybe they can help
In all seriousness, good luck and we truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into everything you all do.

Noted!
If anyone has genuine contacts in any area that could help with either finding/accessing existing sites, or purchasing/constructing a site, please share them.

Well that really sucks

Brooksville has always been the 'home' of autocross for me since starting out there for my first ever event.
I'm rooting for you to find an alternative as soon as possible, although I know there's not a whole lot of options out there to choose from.

We only need 2 acres of well drained open pavement and some grass parking in a noise resistant area. Keep your eyes out for a defunct Nursery that has been well graded. Pavement will follow with base plus chip and seal. Open your grey area to "open spaces" places where you have never gone before. Startrek.

I hope you meant 20 acres because 2 will only be barely enough for paddock space. Trying to envision 100-110 cars in my horses' 2 acre paddock is a stretch.

So exactly how big do you think the Police slab was in St Pete?
You have to give up on crazy mph. Use skills.
