God Bless American and Loren and sickly Ron who stuck it out all day. The results have been up for ages. Hopefully the guys have had their supper and are headed home.

This pre daylight savings event was the reset broke dog leg of Dunnellon and even tho' many many people just couldn't stay clean and on course it was fantastic from where I was sitting. Joe B told me what to do and I just did what he said. What a fun course if you just knew how to stay clean for 5 runs. I was very pleased to finish mid pack in S1 with the 10 sleepers ahead of me. Ended up 49th OA so Maria and I were happy with our fun day out.

There were some really entertaining bloopers on the part of a couple instructors in the Late session. We had some bozo delays and Ron was getting frazzled towards the end with his pounding head but had a lovely tan. We all know it's better to look good than feel good.

Hope Soraya got her battery sorted out. The M4 curse seems to labor on. I will lick my ego with the fact I got beat 4 times by the same cars 20 registered in S1 is an all time record I think. There were only 7 in FN. Imagine that.

Thanks to whoever left the grocery bag in Grid it was really handy for picking up the zillion water bottles and cans you all left during the heats.

Even though I was at the dunnellon event, the courses didn't feel the same to me lol. But the course was fun and I know I left a lot of time on the table and I know 41s were there if I could do some parts better.

This was my forth run, 41.971, but I was given a DNF. Watching the video more than once, the only spot I could have DNF'ed would be at the end? I should have mentioned the pointer cone was missing, but the pointer was at the finish line and I didn't even notice it until I was watching my video. The other cone is at the same location. Oh well

Cool course, as always. A lot of quick people out there today.

Here's my video 40.145 clean. Good for 2nd in class and 13th overall. I got a shot of the inside of the car so there is steering input and what not, never done that before. Input appreciated on stuff I could've done better!
Even though this run looked more composed compared to my other ones, it was quicker.

That was a clean run. I very unscientifically stopwatch timed your video at 41.82, and that is convincing enough to me that it is the correct video for that run.
Won't change class results, but moves you up in overall standings for bragging rights.

That DNF might have belonged to the car that went ahead of you, since the pointer cone was wiped out. Not sure if they only hit the pointer or someone got the upright cone reset before you got there.

I got a super cool light dash cam thru Walmart online for only $16 with a 2.7" screen too. The video was awesome but after only 3 plug ins on the mini plug it lost power due to bad female fitting in the camera and had to put pressure on it to keep it working. (The Professor would have fixed it and used it for years.) Oh well shipped it back for free and will get money back. I had to try at that price point. Also discovered that my LG306G cell phone takes crappy videos at only 370 res. and it's too heavy to hold on a concave windshield. Only holds tight on convex or flat surfaces. Oh well. $4 worth a shot. Maybe I can find a used police cam to mount on my sunglasses? My old Cobra dashcam the lithium battery died and the view screen is foggy now. Can't see the setup instructions anymore. Cost more to fix than it's worth. Saw a reman for $30 on ebay. hmmmm.

Someone made an error, that's not a DNF. But, it doesn't change the class results, so not really worth fixing.

Wow. My Samsung S7 took great autocross videos with zero thought. Gotta say, I'm unimpressed with these first videos from the new Pixel 3. At first, I thought they needed to be stabilized in post-processing. That didn't help. Then I looked at settings and realized that I have image stabilization enabled already. Maybe I need to experiment with it turned off? These vids are complete crap compared to what I got from the S7.

I FINALLY BROKE THE 2ND PLACE CURSE (although I think I finished 3rd a couple events ago, but we won’t talk about that). 39.670, good enough for 1st place in M3 and 10th overall. I know there was still a little time left on the table, but I’m very pleased with that

Good run, Mike! Your video looks faster than mine. Must be the camera angle.

I think the only place I came close to "throwing the car around" was the 60' slalom after the crossover on the return side. If I trusted the car, I WOULD have tossed it in there and easily been a half second faster just from that section!

I still maintain that if you had driven the Mirage as you do your Insight, just chucking it into a turn all at once and expecting it to stick... it would have stuck... and at the very least put you up onto two wheels. Thanks for not doing that.

Doing the in-depth analysis (ha!)...first leg is the problem (not so much the turn around)...Loren - ~15 sec, Mike - ~16, Turn around - looks like ~11 sec for both (to start of upper slalom), Down leg - looks like ~15 sec for both. I'm not great at speedy starts. Otherwise, it's spread out as is typical of other side-by-side evals I've done... .1 sec here, .1 sec there, until it adds up to some real money...


PS...it looks like from the entry into the last outgoing wall to the "2 cone" entry to the turn around is where most of my time was lost. And I remember now that, in the morning in the Miata, I figured out that there was no need to slow down at that point. But I must have been a little more conservative in the afternoon (actually, I just forgot)...

Excellent event. Hope everybody had as good a time as I did! Felt like I drove pretty well too, which is always a good thing! But, it wasn't good enough - Loren was on fire, and Soroya got me by a 10th...

Great event as always. Had a bast driving the mustang. I think this was just too heavy of a transition course for it. When the tire pressures got sorted on the last run it did help a lot but I didn't have anything for Drew or Mark if he had gotten a clean one. Great driving guys.
