I was just digging trying to find out when the first time we ran Brooksville was. Surprisingly difficult bit of info to find because it was before we transitioned into "FAST". There's history out there on various forums, but it takes some time to comb through it. Fortunately, I have nothing pressing to do today.
So far, I've drilled down to the first time the SCCA guys scheduled an initial "site clean-up" day when they were first getting access to Brooksville was May 8, 2004. Their first event there was July 17, 2004.
Looks like some of the other clubs started running there in 2005. FAST finally got there in 2006 during our year as part of NASA. Looks like our first Brooksville event was May 20, 2006. Our current forum didn't pick up until December 2006, which is why I was having so much trouble finding info.
Our first Brooksville event had 38 competitors. 7 runs on about a 42-second course. FTD was... wait for it... Elliot Harvey. Here are the Results. Of the bunch, looks like Me, Elliot, Jamie, Charles, Steve and Drew are still regulars, with a handful of "occasionals" in there, as well. The only people actively autocrossing the same cars are Elliot and Jamie.
If y'all want to share any interesting history about the site here, feel free. I know I've heard some interesting stories from Doug.

Interesting history but all I really want to know more about is the 700HP Miata that Nicholas had.

I think I know William Smith with the Corrado from the local VW scene, he owned that thing for ages, he might have sold it sometime after the car show I saw it at in 2017.

Had to be before that...CFR ran the state championships there in Nov 2004 or 2005...I used to have the T-shirt. And I have a couple of pictures of the Prelude running there, which had to make it before December 2005.Loren wrote:So far, I've drilled down to the first time the SCCA guys scheduled an initial "site clean-up" day when they were first getting access to Brooksville was May 8, 2004. Oh, I mistyped. Their first event was July 17, 2004. Couple months after their clean-up.
