Groj Day - May 11 @ Loren's

Postby Loren » Mon May 06, 2019 12:05 am

We're up to Day #4 of paint prep for the Miata, lots of filling and sanding to do. We haven't even touched the hardtop or the bumpers yet. Still have plenty of space for other minor projects, maintenance, oil changes, or whatever you might need to do. I do need to make sure we're wrapped up earlyish, Cathy's got tickets to some show in Largo. I think it's a local production of Avenue Q, should be fun.

WHEN: Saturday, May 11 - 9:30am-4:00pm

WHAT: Miata body work... or perhaps whatever YOU need to do as long as it's nothing major. I have plenty of driveway space, tools and knowledge. Fluid changes, brakes, other minor maintenance are all doable.

WHERE: My garage in Safety Harbor, PM me if you need the address.

WHO: Me and Chris at a minimum. Anyone else is welcome to come watch & learn, help, hang out, heckle, whatever.

There will be fresh baked cookies on-hand (got a preference?). And, of course, we'll always find something to do for lunch. Nutrition is important.

Please reply if you plan to attend. And if you have any work to do, that would also be good to know. 8-)

I told Cathy to bake something that I wouldn't eat. I hate peanut butter. So...

"Big Fat Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies with Craisins"

I suspect they'll be pretty amazing if you like peanut butter. (I might have to eat one, myself)

See y'all in the morning!

Turns out the fancy "everything" cookies were pretty darned good, even though they had peanut butter in them. It's hard to stay on a diet around here!

Philip and Dan came around today to assist Chris and I. Chris stayed busy with the serious business of filling and sanding, and also got the peeling clearcoat off of the hardtop. The rest of us mostly worked on bumpers.

At this point, I'd say the right side and trunk are about 90% done. Left side is at least 75% done. Top is probably 50% or more. Hood needs to be done. And the bumpers are probably 90%. I'd say one more good day of filling, sanding and priming. Then another day of sanding the primer and final prep. Should be pretty much ready for paint by then!
