Soooo long 2018 season, we've had fun. Lost a site, and gained some sites. Big shoutout Loren, Steve and Bill for getting us some new sites quickly! Overall, I think it was a pretty positive year overall :thumbwink: ! I didn't get to have the last event battle for first in the Championship in M0 against Ron since he had other priorities. It was a good fight till the end.

p.s you've failed me rain gods

Here's my quickest run. 27.7, good for 5th overall, 2nd in class because someone else decided to get FTD  . Great job on that Andrew, and with your back to back to back 26.6 runs.

Bonus Fun Run with my friends sister riding in the passenger seat. I thought her reactions were funny. Still got a good time of 38.0 :chuckle: .

Great stuff, the early crew did a super job getting things on track in spite of a couple curve balls (special Tigertown metaphor :) ).

After driving "power courses" and "technical courses", I now know what a Death Kart course is!

Congrats to Maykel for his second consecutive Lakeland M4 win! Now we chase him, Soroya and ? with Loren's future M4 exit. Congrats to Steve for a great 2nd place performance and 9th place pax.

I'm still whining about my coned 29.4 :D

Great ending to a great season! I'm glad the rain wasn't an issue for any run groups yesterday no matter how much Dan tried to wish it on us. Thanks to all the guys and gals at FAST for putting on another fun season.

I posted it on FB but either way, here's my fastest of the day, a 29.507. It was sloppy, and I left at the very least a second out there.

^^^ Oof. Insult to injury...

On the event itself:
The Good: the event ran pretty darned well. Lots of new faces, and hopefully they all had a good time. The weather was wonderful (sorry, Daniel). We had the usual crew of really helpful folks, some of whom dealt gracefully with unexpected juggling. Y'all are ok in my book!

Also Good was Bill's car. He's done more tweaking of the suspension, and on this course the car was ever so slightly loose in back and with terrific grip overall. I had fallen into some old bad habits about braking too much, and once I cleared that up (after 3 runs  ) I started getting close to the times the car was capable of. If only one more run...

Also Good: all the novices. So great to have new faces/talent. I got to ride with some of you. Hope the tips were helpful and y'all had a great time!

The Bad: sorry about the bathrooms in the morning. The site was supposed to have someone there first thing. I was making calls and emails, and Drew and Bill went on walkabout to try to find someone to unlock them. We eventually did, and the management was appropriately apologetic.

The grid was a bit messy; in part because we're still learning the site, and in part because drivers parked sharper angles than needed and took up unnecessary space. We'll get that all sorted.

The last afternoon group: we had several no-shows, and of course they were all Corner Captains for work, and all the others available for coursework were first or second-timers. All of them. And, of course, we had 6 or 7 novice drivers who all needed instructors. We had it covered - had to take some of the instructors and bounce them over to Corner Captain, but it would work. Until I learned that one of the Corner Captains skipped out. Drove his runs, then left (we know who it was, and hopefully he's gonna read this). That really shorted us one way or another. We made it work, but not ideally.

So just a word on the sport: I know 99% of you realize this, but if you drive, you work. This one person missing slowed the start of the entire group, forced courseworkers to make last minute adjustments, and potentially shorted novices on the instruction we promise. We know emergencies come up, but at least TELL us you have to leave... And otherwise do the right thing and work your assignment so everyone can enjoy the course the same way you did.

Just wanted to say thanks to the FAST organizers and core group that always put on well-organized, fun, and safe events. Thanks also for all your work in securing additional sites to replace Bville.

Learning more and more and more that keeping the distant closer rather than going a little more wide with more speed is better, most cases at least.

End of the season...

Well, down in the S2 bottom-dwelling pits, it took until the last run of the last event of the season to shake out the season standings. And mysteriously, the time for that winning run went AWOL from the timing results posted after the morning session. What the %#*&#? Didn't see it was missing until we were on I-4 on the way back home. If you don't have a phone number for anyone at the event, how do you get it fixed?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I got a little worked up about it, but all's well that ends well. Thanks to the team for finding and fixing the lost results. My anticipated T-shirt thanks you!

Congrats Eva! :thumbleft:

I dont know how you did it for the last run of the season to determine the outcome of the championship. I wouldve gotten too much anxiety or something and would've blotched it.

Really fun event! The course drove a lot better than it looked on paper in my opinion. The Kart drove great and handled the course pretty well. I would be lying if I didn't say I was worried about Philip in the afternoon session haha.

Thanks for the commendation and the ride in the Evo! If you're willing, I'd love to spend some more time behind the wheel of that beautiful piece of machinery. Also realized the turbo I just put on is essentially useless at autocross :snicker: that will be swapped out soon enough with something more responsive. Also thanks Philip for the great shot!

Great event to end the season! Didn’t quite have the speed to contend with the really fast guys this time out, but I was happy with my 28.2. And congrats to all the season winners (except Aaron, screw that guy :double:)!
