Remember Toyo T1-R's?

I just put a set on the Mirage, as it's retiring from autocross duty.

I used to like these tires. I even autocrossed on them and did some track events on a set way back when... 15 years ago?

Taking the Dunlop Direzza ZIII's off and putting the Toyo T1-R's on was night and day!

They're MUCH quieter and smoother riding, which is nice. But, the first time I turned in for a curve, I was like... "wait, I turned the wheel, right? I'm sure I turned the wheel." The grip is adequate, but the steering response is... lacking. The lighter weight can be felt, too. Not so much in acceleration (the car is still a slug), but in braking.

I'll end up putting a lot more air pressure in them to compensate. Which is better for fuel economy, anyway.

The new "street friendly" setup, 15x6.5" Konig Helium wheels with 185/55 Toyo Proxes T1-R:

T1-R replaced T1-S, somewhere in the mid-late 2000s. The S was a much better performance tire. I had a set on the WRX and they were amazing.

New shoes and socks look good. Heliums are cool.

Maybe it was the T1-S that I used to run?

They were amazing in the rain.

I ran a set of Proxies T1 Sports on the C5 a few years ago. Got the C5 stock sizes (same as your pickup) from a local George's Tire for $650 installed (nearly 1/2 price of most tires). Tire Rack has only one 19" size now. They were really good all around tires rain or shine xcross/hwy. They used to have a 10k mile tread warrantee for normal driving. I would consider getting them again even though they canned the warrantee. Only 500 miles return now on all their normal tires.

I believe your tires still have a 500mile test drive return policy. You should exchange them.

Yours have a similar tread design to the excellent and cheap Sumitomo HRZ2 tires I put on wife's C5 years ago. Excellent grip rain or shine. Wore well too. No tires are "quiet" on an empty C5 Fastback other than when it's filled with luggage but they were great on a 4500 mile 75mph trip. No perceptive wear with hwy miles and calm alignment.

+1 with Ken there. Sometimes I go to get a cheapo oil change in the Port Richey Ford next to their Mitsubishi Shop. I have to shield my eyes from the ugly coming off that lot. Even tho' I think the Prius are even uglier with their mole noses.
