I'm trying to decide what I want to do next season... or if I even care enough to worry about it.

Options (in no particular order):

• Compete in Mod with the Yaris - I refuse to invest enough money in my Yaris to make it competitive in our Mod class. But, the car is a blast to drive as it is... so, competition aside, I could have fun with it for another season.
• Compete in Class J with the Yaris - I'd have to put the stock springs back on, reduce the front camber to a stock-attainable setting, and reinstall the back seat. But, I could still run adjustable shocks and the same tires... the car would probably be at least 90% as capable as it is now after some tweaking. Should still be reasonably competitive in that class.
• Compete in Class J with the Tercel - I bought a beater '93 Tercel a while back. Would have to put some good shocks on it and a rear swaybar and alignment and... it would be a lot of work. Would be a challenge to put it together and set it up and compete. It's ridiculously slow, but very light at about 1900 pounds. Could be fun.
• Co-Drive with somebody - Anybody up for a full-season co-drive? I really like driving slow cars fast, so I think I'd prefer an H or J class car, though I'd be open to anything. I have the experience to help set up a car, and can provide co-driver instruction if desired. Willing to chip in for tires and consumables. Any takers?

Class J with the Tercel sounds like it would be pretty easy to pull off.

Sure, almost as easy as winning Class E with a stock-powered Yaris!

Eh, my bad. I was referring to the physical aspect of getting the car ready and such. Get new tires and maybe shocks for the Tercel and you are good, with the Yaris you need to do a bit more work to un-mod it. Plus, then you get to keep the sporty (weird, I know) Yaris for a daily driver.

No doubt prepping the Tercel wouldn't be "difficult", really. And it would be fun to set it up. It's another one of those forgotten cars with no aftermarket support, though. So, for shocks, I'd have to go with generic street shocks (uh... no) or find something that's close and make it fit. I believe there is a rear swaybar available from the Paseo... anybody got a Paseo in their back pocket?

If I wasn't in the middle of an (expensive) engine swap project on my Spitfire, I'd probably start playing with the Tercel. I don't want to start that journey just yet, though.

So, nobody else up for some co-driving? It really adds a new dimension to your competition. When you're competing on the same day on the same course in the SAME CAR as somebody else, you really learn a lot from each other about how to wring the most out of the car!

Some of the most fun I've had in motorsports (besides LeMons racing, of course) was co-driving with Jeff in preparation for the 2007 One Lap of America. We went to every event we could find... autocrosses, track events, you name it. We fed off of each other (and FED each other... we had a running bet: Loser buys dinner!), and learned a lot about the car and our driving styles.

If your primary interest is in a H or J car, that limits your options a little....

I'd think someone would go for it, don't worry guys, it's ok to get beat in your own car......... as long as your co-driver doesn't totally suck

I'd possibly be interested, but the 240 doesn't do SPJC and my car isn't very J-ish

I don't understand slowing a car for the next year's events...

I vote stay in the Yaris...you and that car have a following...or at least gives everyone a goal to shoot for (DON'T GET BEAT BY THE YARIS!)

I think, given the same tires, I could make the Yaris very nearly as fast in "legal for FAST stock class" trim as it is now, though. All our rules say is that you have to run stock springs and stay within the stock range of alignment. That leaves a lot of room for experimentation!

I'll be running most of the next season on a set of Toyo T1R's, anyway. The car won't be as fast on those. (unless my next round of suspension tweaks is amazingly effective...)

Your welcome to co-drive the miata July and Sept. as I think I will be pulling the trailer. I could use some lessons.

Though I doubt you'll be interested. you welcome to co-drive the 325e. I'm constantly doing work on it, but otherwise its a solid car.

This seasons planned mods:
1) e/i head conversion
2) roll cage
3) window nets
4) Suspension work, not sure what yet...

I could use some lessons on my own car...

You are welcome to co-drive my car as well. I will be competing in E3 next season.

I've decided to take a very casual approach to next season. Will likely be co-driving with Justin at least part of the time. Just gonna take it as it comes.

Maybe I should just be the designated car slut this season? I wonder how many cars I can get in without driving my own?

And you are always welcome to drive my S2000 to show me how it is supposed to be driven instead of how I usually drive it.

This sounds promising. A season to not really worry about competition, drive some different cars, and maybe help some folks improve a little.

Instead of co-driving a full season with somebody, I'll just try to co-drive with whoever is interested at each event I attend. I know that cars like the AWD Subaru and the S2000 are going to take me at least a couple runs to figure out.

I won't be at an autocross before October, though.
