I noticed the previous posts on alignment started in 2007. Any update on someone in the Tampa area who understands and performs alignments for our negative camber solo kind? Any help appreciated.

It's still Cars & Concepts as far as I know.

I had good luck at S&R, but have heard horror stories about them from others.

I've spoken to Rick Stroud Automotive in St. Pete. He says they can do a custom-spec alignment for a reasonable price. Says they've done race cars before. I'll probably give him a shot next time; until then it's an unknown. fwiw, last time I was there, one of the guys working there used to be at C and C...[shrug]

Vortex Motorsports. They've done my car twice another guys genesis and they've been dead on. It's 150, but it'll be done correctly for sure.

I'd do some research and find out just how adjustable your suspension is. Typical Mustang has a solid rear axle, no adjustment there. And a McStrut front suspension, which you cant do much with in SCCA stock class. Pretty much push it to max negative camber (use crash bolts if they are allowed) and reset your toe. This can easily be done in your driveway with basic tools. (or you can buy a camber gauge if you want to get fancy... will cost you about what two alignments would cost)

Now, if its something with a fully adjustable suspension, like a Miata... then you might want to hire a professional to dial things in. It's not as easy to align as a suspension where all you can do is front camber and toe.

Steven- Vortex Motorsports. They modify porsches and bimmers for racing. With the slump in the economy they'll work on anything and they do excellent work. The guy that does the alignments, is the guy that does the Porsche Club auto-x's. Trust me you won't be disappointed. The dude at S&R said he could only get -.1 camber and they charged me 100 bucks. Took it to Vortex and they got -1.0 camber without me making any changes from the time I'd been to S&R. They installed my offset bushings and then realigned the car and now I'm at -1.7. They're awesome to deal with. Great people that know what they're doing. As you can see I can't say enough about them, but I'll just shut up now and leave it at that.

Thanks for the info folks. Guess I should have told you it was the Shelby GT. It has -2.1 camber in front, the max allowed under SCCA stock rules. It had been pulling to the right some so I assumed the align was off, but at Brookeville, I broke a shock mount where it attached to the bar. Could be more under there going on but I do not see anything. So, I have the new strut, new strut bolts and I'll need it set back to -2.1. Nothing else special needed. I just need an expert to set me up.

Glad you had good luck with Firestone. Right before leaving for Florida I took my Saleen in for an alignment to Firestone. Couple of days later I am driving it and I took my hands off the wheel to see how the alignment worked out. The car almost turned right on its own. It was an ordeal just getting it on the rack and I took my race ramps to help them out. Guess I got the idiot crew!?! I don't remember anything about lifetime alignment. Maybe if you pay the 159 they actually align the car.

I used C and C last time for both Corvette and Subaru-expensive and time consuming, but the job was done well.

Hey Guy and Gals,

Just to update the thread, I used Vortex Motorsports to align the Shelby. They were great and gave me a nice color printout of the results with all the particulars on numbers (toe, caster, camber). They also installed the strut for me and made some sway bar adjustments which really seemed to work better than full stiff.

The total bill was $334. I thought was very reasonable compared to past work on the car. So, there you go...

Yeah, full stiff is not always the answer. Glad you found a good shop to help you out!
