Just a heads up, mark your calendars, be ready for the world famous FAST annual novice school! March 12, 7:30am-5:30pm at SPC.

We'll open registration for this a little earlier than usual, probably mid-January.

Who is the school for?
Anyone who wants to learn to autocross! No experience necessary.

Who is excluded?
Anyone who already knows how to autocross! If you've been autocrossing for a year or more, you're not our target audience. And if you've been at it longer than that, you should really consider volunteering to help work or instruct rather than enrolling as a student.

What is required?
A safe car. (please, no sharing cars, one car per student!)
A driver's license. (no learner's permits)
An entry fee. (to be determined, but probably $60-90)
A helmet if you have one. (we have some loaners available)
Everything else including lunch, instructors and course workers is provided!

More details as things come together. We'll likely have a meeting of former instructors and organizers in January.

We'll need about a dozen instructors and at least 6 course workers for this event. We can't come close to paying you for your time, but we do offer volunteers event credit to show our appreciation. One credit for instructors, two credits for course workers. Oh, and you get lunch, too. We'll start begging for people to fill those positions as the date draws nearer.

Volunteer List:
Workers -
1. Ron Rice
2. Chris Baron
3. Mary Wheeler
4. Dave Oneil
5. Jim Swayne
6. Joe Vance
7. John Evans
8. Tony Davis
9. Josh McGuigan
10. Justin Bragan

Instructors -
1. Steve Frank
2. Dave Balogh
3. Jamie S
4. Drew Scoda
5. Jeremy Damico
6. Eric Gwatney
7. Scott Wheeler
8. Charles Stowe
9. Brian Kollar
10. Ed Courtemanche
11. Jeff Lloyd

Ah the weekend before the big week at Sebring. Should be totally doable to help out again. It was a blast last year just being a cone chaser.

I was p%ssed at myself for having to bail last year, but if you'll have me I'll instruct. Not that people should drive like I do.

We'll just give you twice as many students this year to make up for last year.

You can put me down for something. Whatever we need the most, instruct or work.

Updated the first post with a volunteer list. Could use a few more workers and a bunch more instructors. Or, if I get a bunch more volunteer workers, there are some who volunteered to work who would make good instructors. So, volunteer if you can. Odds are good that we won't turn you away!

Also, for prior school staff, we'll be having a meeting after the January autocross. Nothing formal, just to chit-chat and see if there's anything we've learned from prior schools that we need to try to implement.

Last year was $60, and half-price for doing the school and the autocross the following day. If it's going to be different, knowing in the next week or so would be useful.

I should have said, the following day's autocross was half-price for people doing the school.

I'll volunteer to tow the trailer too. Not sure if I'll be there sunday yet, but I'm sure I could at least pick it up after the points event.
