tars

Since I'm not made of money, I was looking at this set of tires
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... es&place=9
I have had good luck running the vr710s, ( a DOT tire with shaved tread) but with the weight of the mustang it blows through them pretty quick,in about 8 events and they're down to the cord, so I was thinking that I might be able to run these tires that have a slightly higher tread wear rating, at the full tread depth. Kumho says they have to be shaved to run in the dry, but I'm not sure you would see "chunking" on an autocross track. Basically, I'm trying to run a known quantity tire for a little longer period of time before they fall off.
Discussion?
or suggestions?

I ran Victoracers on the Prelude with pretty decent results -- 2860 lbs, front-drive and nose-heavy, so worked that end of the car hard. I don't think I ever corded a set, and with a careful rotation schedule, I normally would get around 120 runs before they were dead from heat-cycling. I ran one set for close to 180 runs...truely crap at the end, but still not corded!
