You normally don't make too many mistakes, I guess the "suck less" problems impact everyone at some point

On a tight course where you couldn't really use any power except in one spot I can't complain about losing to the go-kart and street tire king(STK).

Normally I really suck it up on the slower tight courses so this was a nice change of pace. I thought it was still painfully tight in a few places but not as bad as it walked.

P.S. - It was entertaining watching the Yaris 3-wheel motion across the entire width of the runway several times per run on Saturday's course. I think you are getting almost enough ground clearance on that tire to clear a cone...... that has potential.

I enjoyed this too. The only bad thing with this experience is that it is going to impact the urgency in which I purchase some new shocks.

Your shocks are a bit sloppy, but far from hopeless. Replacing that slipping clutch should be your priority before shocks.

I'll agree: clutch--->tires--->alignment---->shocks/suspension. I ran a totally stock (and old) suspension for 2 years with good alignment and good tires. You can do reasonably well like that...no pressure.



Oh, and congrats to Brian Kollar who needed only 3 runs to whup-up on class J...

Thanks to Howard and everybody for a great event. I knew my tires were shot already but wanted to give them another shot at the concrete at the B-ville. Didn't help. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_04 But I still had a blast, and the courses on both days were fun. It was fun watching Tommy (the kid in the green 240) improve throughout Saturday and Sunday. I hope he'll be coming out for the future, he's got potential.

Congrats to Zo for turning in a great time to take 2nd in E1. I'll get you next month!

If Howard could get me a list of the teams from the Relay Race I'll update the results file to include a team list for reference.

One of the things I think we all needed badly since the course was complicated was a course map....

We make a practice of posting the course map in the pre-event discussion forum, suitable for printing. While the event chair may bring a few copies out for the setup crew, printing out 50+ copies of the map would get expensive.

Keep in mind that the map may change as well -- this one certainly did! We considered taping one of the copies Howard brought for setup to the trailer where people could stare at it, but cone walls had changed to gates, and some gates had moved, so we decided putting it up would be more confusing than letting people picture the actual course in their heads. The moral: if you do print out a map to bring with you, bring a pencil to update it!

I approve of his brake package, Sti Brembos all around.
He also was running very grippy tires up front(RE070's) and something with far less grip in the rear. He is making much more torque than I am, so I'm amazed he kept the rear under control at all, good job.

Yea, I missed the course map, too.
It was, on Sunday, pretty different, however, from forecast so I dont know how well it would have done to post.
I do like to look at a map, for the visualization etc.

i wasn't even sure how to WALK it in the morning, and yea.. I got lost.
Certainly, wayfinding is part of the auto-x game. I do think the course was very well laid out and not REALLY confusing (just my personal brain-fart).

FAST, in general, does a good job of laying out readable courses.

Just looking over the results. Congrats to Shon Sparks. He was the only driver with no cones and no off course runs for the entire day on Sunday. Nice job.

Well, technically I didn't go off course on Sunday...but I did spin out twice. You can see that in my times. Two of them are in the mid 80 second ranng.

Hell, that's even more impressive that you technically stayed clean. I was surprised when I went sideways through the middle gate and still didn't hit a cone. I was waiting to see a couple of cones go flying in the air.

Slightly tardy, but great event last Sunday!

Seems we got started a bit late considering the course was already 95% ready and may have impacted the morning/afternoon split run layout. I was responsible for course set up so hopefully I was not contributing to that delay! (The crossover confusion was likely at fault...)

Appreciate the flexibility with allowing the runs in the morning for myself-catching a plane @ 1700 was compressing the schedule more than I liked-and the performance showed...

Eric had a surprising performance-especially as a novice (not listed on the results as such?). Excellent driving...now taking a lesson from the student who recently levered on a set of new run flats, no less...I will stereotypically blame the tires (background dailing Discount Tire for a new set of shoes...)

Sure appreciate the great shots of the event as well-do we have a FAST work assignment position for a photographer?

LOL. I didn't claim Novice at St Pete either. I learned a lot at the first two autocross schools I went to, so I have a huge leg up from just a normal novice with less than four races. I finished over 6 seconds from the first place novice...so I'm happy with my amateur status. The other big difference is the afternoon really warmed up the track. I had a ton more grip in the afternoon and I think you'd vastly improved your times as well (went from 68's to 66's in the afternoon). I just had to mess with you. I will be aiming for keeping my time under three seconds from yours though, might be tough if you get a new set of sticky nittos, but I gotta have a goal right?

It would be nice, but we're typically using everyone we have to operate the event as is. On the other hand, volunteering for an early or late assignment frees up time to earn our admiration and gratitude with photos (which is what Eric's often been doing)!
