The black squares are drain grates, nothing to worry about. (we'd never put a course that close to a light pole!)

Why not pre-register, then you don't need to worry about whether or not the event fills up?

Hey, Steve... looks like helmet and clothing requirements are not addressed on the website. We should fix that. Maybe a "FAQ" under the "Novice Tips" section?

Anyway, Rowdie, our requirements are simple. Wear a helmet, wear shoes. Shorts and t-shirt is fine. Our insurance has no specific helmet requirements, any motorcycle or car racing helmet is fine. We have loaner helmets available.

That's good to hear.

As far as preregistering; I was just about through the pre-registration thing on the other site, but when it wanted my 30 bucks I stopped. What are the refund/credit rules?

Also I'm not at all sure how reliable my buddy Dave is and if he doesn't make it the chances of me making it are low.

I still need to check my own calendar; aka: ask the wife.

Bucs home game that day? I could be out already ... @ miami so that's clear :)

I'm just terrible at scheduling weekends.

I think Dave will be in. He seems pretty excited. I haven't been to such an event in over a year so I'm pretty eager as well.

Yeah, some helmet requirements have type and age, so I was worried about that. I've seen long pants and long sleeves as a listed requirement as well.

Cool!

I"ll have a look-see.

But the helmet must be DOT-approved...fwiw.

A quick look at our Rules and Classing page finds it does say that drivers and passengers must wear helmets, and there is a link to our insurance requirements, but that's not exactly user-friendly, is it?

I'll fiddle with it. 8)

If you cancel before preregistration closes (typically 8-9 days before the event -- the date's on the entry site), you get an event credit. If inside of that you suffer an event beyond your control -- catastrophic mechanical failure, find out you have to work that weekend, fall off a ladder, or are kidnapped by ninjas -- we'll probably offer you an event credit. Except for the last...if you can drive a car quickly around an autocross course, you should be able to clean up a few ninjas. If you just get up that morning and decide you're too tired, feel like doing something else, or don't want to come out if it's raining (see the thread for our 12 Sep event)...the site's rented, the food's bought, and we need the entry fees to cover expenses.
Also I'm not at all sure how reliable my buddy Dave is and if he doesn't make it the chances of me making it are low.
That means you need to be a good friend and make sure he gets out there!
Yeah, some helmet requirements have type and age, so I was worried about that.
Although our insurance only insists that a helmet meet DOT standards, we do ask that whatever you bring covers your ears -- unlike a motorcycle, where a half a ping-pong ball with some lining might save your skull, there are far more things in a car to rattle the side of your head against. We do have loaner helmets if you want to take that route.
nc4me wrote:I'm going to run this event like a well oiled machine. We should have a pretty early start....
It's enough of a well-oiled machine if we start on time. If you want me to change the drivers meeting time in the announcement, let me know, but from experience, I think 10am is still about right. Should get 8 runs even with that.

Did I say like a well oiled machine? I meant like a dictator J/K...10:00 sounds fine. If we happen to be ahead of that then I'll adjust on the fly. Although, taking into account we have walk-up registration, 10:00 should be good.

Also, I cleared my calendar and registered. :D This will be my first autoX since July!

Being unused since July, your skills should be well-rested and fresh. That's how that works, right?

I can help Steve with registation and/or do lunch as well, so put me down for registration and if no one wants lunch duties thatn I can handle that as well. Lately we've been getting lunch delivered to SPC anyhow, so I'm sure between me and Steve we can hammer something out if needed.

Oh, and I'm registering as soon as I finish this reply.

Solar 90GT/03Si- If you would like to get with Steven and take care of ordering lunch that would be fine by me. I'm worried that I'll be wrapped up with work and that I'll forget to call and place the order. I have already pm'ed Steven about lunch and the way I was thinking about it in terms as FAST as a whole. He can fill you in on the pm. So pretty much you can stick with what I was already talking with him about or you can go with something along the same budget lines. Just pm me when you decide where we're getting lunch from. Also, please place the order for me prior to the event. I'm glad you signed up and I'll see you soon.

Jaime- Can you please post the work schedule for those that have already signed up and taken jobs like setup and tech. I want to know in advance who's doing these jobs so I can coordinate things with them a few days prior to the event.

Well, I'm not sure if Steve is "onboard" for lunch, I haven't talked to him yet, but I'll offer to buy his beer on crab night; I think that should do it. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_06

No problem Chris, I'll take care of lunch as well as doing registration.

It's been up for a week -- check the first page in this thread, where you asked for a list. :) From experience, you don't need to overplan -- the early shift shows up, starts clearing the police course and emptying the trailer. You'll need to have a couple of maps for people setting up, make adjustments as the course takes shape, and walk it with Jeremy once it's "done". You'll also need to know the supplies arrived, and eventually make sure lunch gets called in. Everything else pretty much runs itself.

shakedown067- If you would like to print 5 maps that should be plenty for the guys doing setup and a couple spares just incase. I'll be printing a few of my own for when I walk the course with Jeremy.

Jaime- I never bothered to look at the first page of this thread. Thanks for the heads up.
