Feel free to skip this event Chuck. At the rate you're going, kicking my but, you'll have plenty of time to catch me by the end of the season.

I'm in of course. Will probably still be hung over from Sebring though. If I get the new tires installed (picking up at sebring) on my track wheels, I may be changing to class-B. But for now, I'm just staying as is.

After discussions with the chairman (one of them, anyway) the Flowers will once again be catering lunch, so put me down for lunch duty (although I can double up for something else if needed).

On the menu is baked ziti, caesar salad and garlic bread.

I'd like to run in the morning but have everyone else in my run group in the afternoon when they are full, sleepy and heavier!

And I remembered to register this time. :?

Someone who's had some initial safety training (read all the safety materials, done some safety course walks, etc) and has at least a year of autocross experience under their belt, go ahead and sign up to do safety for this event and I will shadow you through the process. If we do this for a 2-3 events and you demonstrate proficiency in the "art" of safety, you should be fully qualified to take this position on your own in the future.

So, get on it, somebody!

And Dan/Nick, you're working on your first draft of the course map, right?

I have done safety at some very large events in the past.

Certainly a good start, but if you're doing tech, you can't do both.

We include a little more than the typical "SCCA Safety Steward" responsibilities, too. Our "safety guy" is also our last line of defense against poor course design and often does more work before the event than during. Novice event chairmen (which is most of them) need a lot of guidance, whether they want it or not!

You call it. Nobody else seems to be interested, so it's yours if you want it.

Okay, just be sure Jamie has you down for the correct position. I'll keep you in the loop as the course design comes in. (Dan? Nick?)

Sorry, been swamped lately. Dan mentioned opening course design to the group or picking out an ancient design. I think the one I designed previously was 'O.K.' at best.

Geez, I gotta register.

Nick & I are both too busy to be interested in designing a course.

Two options for ya':

1) I'll dig through some past maps & pick one I don't remember.

2) Someone can volunteer in the next 24hrs to design something they've been wanting to design.

Don't want to draw this out anymore than we have to, so if nobody is jumping at the chance, thats fine by me. . .

Opportunity knocks... how often does a person get the opportunity to design a course without the responsibility of chairing the event?

Anybody want it?

I've always wanted to try this one again. Except with a slightly loosened finish gate/wall. I remember there was a small controversy on which way through the slalom was fastest.

^Just a suggestion, don't mind if someone wants something new. We had an awesome course last month, no pressure. :)

Jeremy (or anyone else) a compromise is also totally an option - if there is a course everyone wants to try, but tweaked, and we can sort the tweak out together/in advance, that could be a win/win!

That's a pretty cool map(has my vote, tweaked or untweaked) and thanks for the compliment Jeremy.
