Entry limits.

If I was to chair an event, could I lift the entry limit restrictions from my event?

I would assume at brooksville sure, but SPC might get a little hairy if you start pushing much over 600 runs. and brooksville Draconinan Security measures are allways going to keep entry numbers down. now there is no reason you CANT give 100 cars 6+ runs. you just really need to have your ducks in a row, start early, keep lunch breif, turnover between run groups quick. and most importantly have little to no crossover on course. remember 20-25 seconds is about the safe minimum you can let a car go and still have the cones set back for the next car, if there is a crossover you are stealing from this saftey margin. in a crossover it's darn hard to set up a cone and get back to a safe position in that short time between one car finishing the section and the next car entering it. Now if we had a Large Stadium lot to use!!!!!!! anyone call the rays? or the phillies, or yankees, bucs? the freedom a LARGE lot course gives you as far as event org and course design is awesome.

Hook it up!!! I think everyone has been trying to get new sites for so long without any success, that they have all given up.

There is also the horse track too, but I think they wanted more insurance than we could afford, or they were just dumb or something.

Yeah. Jeff, here's where your aggressive sales techniques will really come in handy - find us another venue, preferrably central...there's dog track, too.

Probably shoulda commented on the original question, but Treekiller basically hit the nail on the head. We've already squeezed 10 more (up to 70) at SPC, and at the Jan. event when we had 62 show, it was pretty crowded - next week's event will be another test if we have a big turnout. At B'ville, before the '07 season started they had a meeting with reps from all the clubs and were, among other things, expressing concerns about event size, and also accurate entry lists. In fact, for Feb, when we had, what, 90, and sent them a list of 180, they contacted us and questioned just what was going on. While a huge event there is possible, 80 entries is probably as far as we'd want to push it...

The only large lots would be the horse track and the dog tracks. From what I recall the horse track's available lot is pretty crappy anyway. The Tampa Greyhound track has a perfect lot that is empty most of the time. Someone was checking into it but I don't remember what happened.
Derby lane's lot is odd shaped and may not be as 'available'.
Raymond James stadium parking is grass and/or gravel.
The minor league stadium lots are just too small. Tropicana field's lot is full of 'tree islands'.

I thought it was just dirty and gravelly. That has been dealt with pretty well in Orlando by renting 1 or 2 industrial size blowers. The kind on wheels that you push.

I saw a Porsche Ride and Drive there recently. I wanted so much to Get a run on the course with my sentra.


the lot at the horse track is fine and they are shut down for most of the year so the lot is open all the time.

Don't most of the parking lots mentioned have light poles through out the lot? The only paved parking lot at the Ray Jay is at the old Tampa Bay Center and half of that is now gravel.
